Thanks-2015 being 4 years ago then I get the feeling a Repress/Reissue might be available soon(especially to add 'Western Stars'), so I will wait it out for that potential Reissue.
I've got the Springsteen one and it was pretty good but not sure if I bought the deluxe version or not
I did too the other day and can't find an entry for the Jimi Hendrix Experience (4cd/8lp) box. Am I right? If so, I think this is a bit odd that such an important release is missing.
Wow, an actual new one, and not a deluxe reissue. Not sure if I'll get this, but a good choice of artist. EG.
I'd snap up TH, Billy Joel, anything like that, straight away. I like some CSN&Y, but not really enough to buy the issue. EG.
A Billy Joel one would be great. He hasn’t done loads of albums either so they could do in depth pieces on them all.
I had a flick through today. Was disappointed all the albums didn't get a page. I mean Manassas is included in a round up of solo Stills. That record deserves a 2 page feature to itself. I may still go back and buy it as some very nice photo's and some good interviews.
That’s my biggest complaint against these editions that claim a review of every album. Technically, yes, they do that. But there’s a big difference between a one-page write-up and a one-paragraph mention. Tons have been written about an artist’s better-known albums. I don’t mind reading another article, but I’d really like some in-depth coverage of the lesser-known or less popular stuff. The edition for Deep Purple was a perfect example of that. I know House of Blue Light and Slaves and Masters (just two examples) aren’t popular, but an examination of why they didn’t hit the mark, or why they might actually be better than people remember, would be great reading for fans. And I’m guessing it’s the hard-core fan who is the main buyer of these magazines.
I cleaned my collection out this summer. Only kept Beatles, Lennon, McCartney, Clash, Sex Pistols and Small Faces/Faces. Prices are too high for 122 pages (they used to run 144) but I'd be tempted by Caravan and Man (high hopes, I know).
They are really scraping the barrel with CSN&Y. They only made 3 albums together! Richard Thompson, on the other hand, has made 18 solo albums, plus another 6 with Linda Thompson and 5 with Fairport Convention. And every song beats dumb songs like Almost Cut My Hair!
See this got me reading the posting before and made me wonder what Linda Thompson was doing in a "Soul" magazine!
Oh, hell no - I swapped 'em for new stuff. I'm at that stage in life where you ask yourself am I ever going to listen/read/watch this again (while avoiding the Do You Really Need 2200 CDs/LPs When You Play The Same 100 Over And Over Again question).
How big was Billy Joel in the UK ? Because that seems to be a factor in whether an issue is done or not Billy is covered in the Soft Tock Genre Guide from Uncut
