My all time favorite pop/rock album is Sly's Greatest Hits, the perfect album to listen to when you are having a bad day (assuming you don't have a headache haha ). Doesn't get more upbeat than this, in a loud, happily screaming-kind of way!
One that almost seems to be a complete album, with a rocking intro number, then a kind of mellow mystical journey, and finally ending with their 2 biggest hits. Even a nice sunset/silhouette pic on the back that perfectly matches the music Seals & Crofts Greatest Hits
There are certainly more comprehensive packages, and I own those as well as the ones that cover the earlier versions of this group. but I never would have gotten to the far end of completism if I hadn't owned and loved this one first.
This Clovers album was part of a series on Atlantic that had entries from all their '50s R&B stars, ugly covers but great music.
Sorry , for the rash generalization, but I was, drinking and driving while posting to Steve Hoffman's Thread. The only thing I know for sure , the officer who pulled me over, wasn't happy with my response to his question: "What do you think you were doing?" My answer : " Multitasking! " The offier proceeded to give me a personal tour of the police station. After I had mentioned I was suffering from Writer's Block.
It managed to get past the censors in 1952. 20 years before Chuck's version. Wouldn't get past the censors in the much more enlightened 2023
