And now it's rumored that James Mangold will be directing the new film...

How James Mangold Could Bring the Edge Back to Indiana Jones

Mangold did a fantastic job on the final Wolverine film Logan, which many agree was the best of the entire series.

But how they're gonna get the new Indiana Jones film shot and released by July next year is beyond me. Nobody is talking about the real story: why did Spielberg pull out right after the film was announced? Problems with Lucasfilm? Story issues? Scheduling problems?

    All that's being said is:

According to a source close to the filmmaker, the decision to leave the director’s chair was entirely Spielberg’s, in a desire to pass along Indy’s whip to a new generation to bring their perspective to the story.

I think Spielberg wants this film to be able to spin a new I Jones into a new film and H Ford has said more then once, I'm the only I Jones, period! When I'm done playing him then no one else plays him.

I think Spielberg has some personal problems to deal with right now...

No Douglas Slocombe = No Indiana Jones.

That being said, Mangold is a very interesting choice... let's see where this goes, but if he's only coming onboard now, it's one hell of a tight schedule for next July... maybe they should learn the lessons of The Rise of Skywalker and push this thing back a year...

Hmmmm, I can read it. Here's another one:

Steven Spielberg’s Daughter Reveals She Is a Porn Star

Ya know, I'm not a psychiatrist, but you gotta wonder if the daughter has some misplaced hostility here.

I think it's worth noting here that one of the main reasons (aside from a potential billion-dollar gross at the box office) they're doing this film - and with Harrison Ford in particular instead of recasting - is that the latter insisted on a fifth Indy film be included in his contract when returning for The Force Awakens...

I don't know; Ford is still healthy and fit, but really... no Spielberg directing, no Lucas contributing ideas, no Doug Slocombe lensing, no John Williams scoring, no Michael Kahn cutting... the first (and only?) three movies were rip-roaring adventures of the like not yet equalled onscreen... maybe they just should have ended it there...

The trailer take is much better in my opinion. More badass.

I think they also did something similar with the "Nazis...I hate these guys" line in the Last Crusade. There's a difference between the trailer and the film. In the trailer it's delivered with a bit more hate.

Out of 7 of billionaire Spielberg's children she wants to assert herself with her body image she'ld been ridiculed about as a child by making it on her own by being a porn star without her dad's help.

She either wasn't taught she has options more so than any young person her age on the planet or she knows how to use her dad's prestige to get attention.

Either way she knows what she's doin', but hasn't realized she's telegraphing to the world she's run out of ideas on how to be successful by making her feel good about her body by being a porn star. Now that's one hell of a role model.

First I heard of this. What's your evidence that this happened? As far as I know, that's two completely separate projects.

Doug Slocombe retired around 1990 as far as I know, and he didn't work much at all once he hit 80 because he was losing his eyesight. I think Janusz Kaminski did a remarkable job coming up with that "diffused early 1950s" thing for Crystal Skull, which took place in 1957. You can criticize the film's story and characters, but I think the lighting was terrific.

He may be healthy and fit but he is still going to be 78 in July and healthy and fit only goes so far at 78.

Ford was interviewed on CBS Sunday Morning a couple of weeks ago and acknowledged it is difficult to do Indiana Jones at his age.

It was not the greatest 007, but perhaps take a hint from Never Say Never Again. Bond's age was front and center in that one. Work it into the script and don't try to hide that he is an old man.

It ended with last crusade thats it.. He's a couple years older than my parents
My mother said when I told her about this. She said what heck is wrong with him.
Harrison was not in the mood in the 90's so whats the point.

That is what was done for the last Indiana Jones Movie(Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), with the built in jokes about his advanced age. So they need to do it again for a 5th movie? Will they replace the Whip with a Walker and Life Alert Bracelet?

Yeah, that's the news I remember reading back when Harrison signed onto Episode VII... okay, so I got it half-right; he wanted a commitment to Indy 5 written into his contract but didn't get it as such...

With Spielberg gone (and one wonders if there's a story behind that?), will Harrison jump ship too or is the good vessel Indy 5 still afloat...? It's a good question, but honestly, maybe they should let this one go...

I'm very curious to see how this one pans out. Who knows? It may be great.
A lot of people say they shouldn't make a new Indy but I'd say "Go for it!". It's obvious Harrison wants to do this. The worst thing that can happen is we get a bad movie. So what? You can ignore it if you want.

LOL! Maybe. I did not see the last movie so I had no idea they had done that.

I do not even think they would be considering it if Crystal Skull had not been bad. The mistake was making that film after a perfect conclusion with Last Crusade.
