Sorry if that sounded redundant; I meant that the theme of the song is about Mary's baby, Jesus, but it's not religious or as fervent in tone like O Come O Come Emmanuel or O Holy Night.

Maybe 'sacred' without being conventionally religious?

Anyway, I at last got the much recommended "Ella wishes you a Swinging Christmas" , which even with a few alternate versions is turning out my most spinned this far this week.

And I'll recommend "Good Morning Blues", even tho I don't hear that line in the whole darn song. Its a really cool blues song to Santa, Chuck Berry would like it.

Off-topic, but: Indy Mike - how is Evansville coping with that 19" of snow? Is the Lloyd Expressway clogged to the max? I'd hate to be trying to shop at those malls and strip malls in that part of town today! Please call Channel 41 and wish the news troops (David, Ann, Mike, and [can't recall the weather man's name]) best wishes from an out-of-stater who's been enjoying them while on vacation for years! Merry Christmas!

I remember some record of "I saw Mommy kissing Santa CLaus" from my childhood. No idea whose version it was, but must have been a hint to this child that maybe Santa wasn't exactly who I had supposed he was. :)

This part of the state ain't used to a healthy snowfall like this - state of emergency was declared. I grew up in the northern part of the state so I got around ok - it's the natives who have no clue how to safely drive in snow...

Yesterday morning we'd gotten about 10" of snow and I got our driveway shoveled out, then went and did our in-laws, too. This A.M. it looks like I didn't scrape off a single flake...

I'm not familiar with the animated special Mike speaks of, but his comment reminds me how much I've always loved Rosemary Clooney's version of that song.

I don't have time to do them once an hour so I'll pick these tracks:
Tennessee Christmas-any version of it is great, but Amy Grant's original is the classic)

Emmanuel-Amy Grant (there are covers of this track as well but the original is the classic)

My sister-in-law always hated Buck Owens' "Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy," IMO a GREAT little Christmas song, because she thought it might induce unwanted realizations into the heads of her young children!

"Here Comes Santa Claus" - Los Straitjackets

From 'Tis The Season For Los Straitjackets. Seeing them perform this on Late Night With Conan O'Brien two years ago was my introduction to this band. Never seen anything like it before or since!

It sounds great to me too. You should check out Otis Redding's version with the same arrangement found on the box set.
