  2. Excellent movie--some minor narrative flaws but I enjoyed it a lot.

  3. I enjoyed Sunshine but there's no way that was better than Interstellar. Each is flawed but Sunshine even more so with its last third shift to a slasher film.

    FYI

'By now, audiences eager to see “Interstellar,” Christopher Nolan’s hotly anticipated space epic starring Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway, have heard the word on the movie, which has received mixed-to-positive reviews.

The unanswered question is whether they’ll hear a word in the movie.

In what is becoming a distressingly predictable ritual for Nolan’s movies, “Interstellar” has been dinged in recent weeks by critics and other gadflies for a muddy, thuddingly loud sound design, in which Hans Zimmer’s booming score (he’s all about that bass) and similarly thumping sound effects render spoken dialogue a submerged garble. The sound was “so bassy and woofer-throbby and aimed at my rib cage that I couldn’t hear half the dialogue,” complained Hollywood Elsewhere’s Jeffery Wells after an October screening. “My ears felt left out, not to mention the part of my brain that enjoys hearing words and sentences.”

Is this one going to be 3D? I know you don't like 3D but you do work in the business, so I thought you might know.
Most of these type of movies lately have been in 3D.

  6. Saw it in IMAX tonight. I had no sound problem in terms of dialogue. Heard everything fine. And yes the music and bass was loud but fit the scenes

It's a great story about a father and daughter. That's the best description of it .

4 out of 5 stars from me.

I thought Matt's performance held back the first hour.

The second hour was thrilling and made up for the opening.

The third hour was amazing in its astounding atrociousness and stupidity. The plot convulses hilariously for the sake of a few dramatic moments Nolan can't quite nail.

    Even giants stumble at times...

Matthew McConaughey. You caught me shortening his moniker to avoid checking to be sure I spelled the last name right!

    Shallow m, y'all!

No, Mr. Nolan is not a fan of 3D and feels it's a gimmick. He feels that a huge, bright, razor-sharp image in Imax is the best way to present the picture -- no gimmicks, just great exposure, great color, and great lenses.

Doh! That's supposed to be a secret!

Wow , I love that this is being shown on film! Makes me want to go see it when I didn't give it much thought before.

We saw it last night and I loved every second of it. For those who say it's implausible, I think it's much more believable than 90 per cent of movies these days that only seem to deal with super heroes and murderous aliens or middle-aged men and 90-pound babes kicking the crap out of everyone. Interstellar was awe-inspiring and emotional and made me long for the days of space exploration. 2001 is my favourite movie of all time and Interstellar is close enough in its reach and scope to impress me big time.

Saw it this morning in glorious 70mm - up to expectations in that department. I thought the movie itself was quite flawed but I would rather see a picture strive for greatness and fail than not to try. I agree with the comments about the sound mix - very difficult to hear the dialogue at times, but I did enjoy the subwoofer workout :p

    I'm glad you loved it.

I find some of the films you mentioned far more believable in the worlds they created than this one was in its own. Different strokes...

2001 is in my top 15, so at least we both dig that one!

    Shalom, y'all!

That's pretty much how I felt about that last hour or so, good grief did they run out of time and make it up on the fly. ** / 5. From near amazing to crap in the blink of an eye, I won't mention the scene where everything went sideways for me.

Just got back. It's 'Inception' II, audacious, with all Nolan's usual visual strengths and continuity weaknesses, exploiting relativistic time and gravity instead of nested dreams, and adding a well-acted and resonant emotional core. No shortage of 'Dude, seriously?' moments, but how often do you get to see inside a black hole? If you go, just let the first 40 minutes go, what seems like sloppy writing will eventually be explained. If you don't think about it too hard. Two thumbs up, but not as high as I had hoped.

  21. Who was going to pilot the thing before Mathew Mc showed up ? I'm glad he has experience driving Lincolns.

You just couldn't answer a simple question without poking at me about 3D.
I threw away our past and respectfully asked you a question, all you had to say was yes or no without the gimmick remark.
Why does it bother you that many folks like 3D, even buy 3D capable tvs? I won't bother you anymore.
