Blows Live After Death out of the water imo. What it lacks in setlist it more than makes up for in the performances, which are absolutely stellar.
Enjoyed the new track. I haven’t seen it mentioned on the thread, but will it be released as a single (in the traditional sense)? I know you can buy the track on its own from Qobuz. Tracks for the B side, in my delusional daydream, would be a Jethro Tull cover and maybe a Bryan Adams-esque song written and sung by Adrian.
It’s digital like all recordings the last 20 years. Laptop or desktop makes no difference whatsoever.
Thanks! I was 100% certain that in 2010 it was recorded using the exact same analog setup that they used in the '80s. After following this band for 36 years there's still so much for me to learn!
It is interesting how we all have out own angle.... For me Bruce would top that list. The only ones that would make it into my list of these kinds of singers would be Ann Wilson Ronnie James Dio David Coverdale Joe Lynn Turner Soto would be close, as would Tate Hughes wouldn't even be in the first 100 ... personally
Yes, tastes really do differ, and that is wonderful! I don't even understand how somebody can put Dio and Turner into the same list!
They're just different styles of singers. I really like Ronnie, but I don't rate him as highly as most folks do. Ronnie gets on my list for Stargazer
The black vinyl is down to $44.49 on Amazon (U.S.): https://www.amazon.com/Senjutsu-Bla...7748539&sprefix=iron+maiden+se,aps,218&sr=8-1
For the record ... I have never purchased fancy coloured records before, and with the silver being so cheap, I ended up getting it. Is there much/any difference? I haven't bought a record for years
Lately it's been my experience that the fancy color vinyl sounds just fine. Just steer clear of picture discs and you should be OK! Plus, as someone else previously mentioned, the color vinyl often ends up being worth more down the road so that's not a bad thing at all if you later change your mind and need to sell it.
I remember Bruce saying around the time of the recording how much compass point had changed since '83, and how all of the reel to reel and analogue consoles were gone.
I hope all the songs on this album start with a subtle guitar theme that slowly builds through a bunch of verses followed by big overly-repetitive choruses.
I was always suspicious of this Bruce quote from 2010 since it was obviously not "exactly" the same! "The studio had the same vibe and it was exactly as it had been in 1983, nothing had changed! Even down to the broken shutter in the corner ... same carpet ... everything ... It was really quite spooky. But we felt very relaxed in such a familiar and well-trodden environment and I think this shows in the playing and the atmosphere of the album."
Hughes…when he is on he is really unreal. A few songs I’d point to: Iommi/Hughes ‘I Go Insane’ Black Sabbath ‘Turn To Stone’ Glenn Hughes ‘I’m The Man’ and ‘Lay My Body Down’ Gary Moore ‘Nothing To Lose’ and ‘Reach For The Sky’
He's just one of those guys I don't like his voice. I think Deep Purple Live in Europe will forever taint my ability to enjoy his vocals
Man I love that Gary Moore album. It was his peak for me. Best songs on there, along with ‘Out In The Fields. ‘
