I was wondering why Sanctuary is listed as the second track on the album, coming after Prowler on the 98’ version instead of after Strange World like on the original release. Was this intentional for some reason, or just another ‘quality control’ issue?

Had to be intentional as it's on the track list etc. I assume they felt the album flowed better with it as track 2.

When I bought the import cassette version back in the day. Sanctuary was tagged onto the end of side 2.

The new 2015 version removes it all together.

Thanks for the info! Odd that the track would be removed on the 2015 version... it’s a great song!

Yep. Maiden got my money more than once with this album.

Cassette with original tracklist. Import cassette with Sanctuary at the end.

CD with original tracklist and then 1998 CD with Sanctuary included as track 2.

I had the Canadian release on cassette back in the 1980’s which included Sanctuary. I never understood why some tracks are left off of certain releases. It was the same with Twilight Zone being left off of the U.K. version of Killers, yet included in the Canadian version. It’s odd that the band would seemingly shortchange their home base by giving them less music. I’m sure there’s a decent explanation; Just not sure what it is...

"Sanctuary" and "Twilight Zone" were stand alone singles, it was very much of that era to release separate singles, and it would actually have been considered value for money to not include songs again on LP that fans had already bought on single. The inclusion of these songs on American versions of the albums were probably not band sanctioned, they were the American label's idea, so those versions of the albums would not be considered "canon" nowadays.
