I like him but he’s one dimensional IMO. Kinda the same guy in every movie?

I've enjoyed his performances more in supporting roles than the main lead. His better movies I've enjoyed include You Can Count On Me with Laura Linney and Spotlight with Michael Keaton and Rachel McAdams. I voted for top 500.

I own that movie just so I can gawk at him. It's not very good but he is HOT in that movie. I've liked him in everything I've seen him in - We Don't Live Here Anymore, 13 Going on 30, some other rom-coms where he plays the same guy. He has taken more serious roles of late.

He’s back! Just watched Dark Waters his latest. Highly highly recommended. I’d put him in the top 3 actors after this and his new HBO show!

Just watched "Now You See Me 2" a few days ago.

The option I now want to tick isn't on your list.

I find him completely hit or miss. Sometimes he just feels too awkward in his delivery (Spotlight in particular), though possibly the intention. However he's bloody great in You Can Count On Me & his smaller role in Margaret. Churned in a good performance in the recent Dark Waters which seemed like it got overlooked. I'd call him a good actor, capable of great things in the right role, though personally wouldn't consider him of the great modern actors.

Apart from RDJ, he has to be the best actor in MCU!

Sone actors can raise a bad film and make it good or at least bearable.

Mark Ruffalo is not that actor.

Some actors will at least give you one watchable performance in an otherwise bad film.

Mark Ruffalo is not that actor either.

I don't think he's as good as Cumberbatch, Rudd or Jackson or Skarsgård, and no better than any of the Chris's or Scarlet. He seems to have limited range, and can barely keep a straight face in the serious scenes. There are examples of this in each of the Avengers movies; he does a better job in the campy scenes where he can act cuckoo. In Endgame he became nothing but a vehicle for humor. I don't think the writers initially realized he was more successful in a comedic capacity, but they figured it out by the time they were working on the screenplays for Infinity War and Endgame.

    Can you give an example?

I'd cite Avengers Assemble and Now You See Me 2 as examples of failing to deliver a decent performance to lift a movie.

Robert Downey Jr and Morgan Freeman respectively give watchable performances in those.

I've not watched Foxcatcher, so can't comment on overall quality of the movie but reviews suggest its a pretty good character driven film.
