I've heard that it is and I think it lives up to that. If not, what else?

There’s certainly a good argument for your position and I don’t necessarily disagree, but I could equally make a case for A Day in the Life and many more moments in rock.

I can't see any of the You Tube videos posted above so, if it isn't there already (and it probably is...) then the opening chord to A Hard Day's Night...

(The OPs shout is a good one though..!)

There is no single greatest moment in rock history; there's no barometer to gauge this stuff by. Is it Elvis' first TV appearance? The Beatles on Ed Sullivan? Hendrix at Monterey? Ramones at the Roundhouse in London 1976? Elvis Costello stopping mid-song to start another on SNL? Anarchy in the UK? God Save the Queen? Bohemian Rhapsody? A Hard Day's Night inspiring every musician that saw it? Dylan at Newport? The Who on the Smothers Brothers TV show? Suicide on the Midnight Special? Carl Perkins doing Matchbox on Ranch Party in 1957? James Brown on the TAMI show? The Beach Boys on the TAMI Show? You can make arguments for and against all of these and every moment that has been posted previously and will be posted. There are many great moments in the history of rock'n'roll /rock -- to try and single one out is a virtual impossibility.

Roger Daltrey’s yeaaah is great I agree on that one but John Lennon’s performance on ‘Mother’ and ‘Well Well Well’ are equal.

    Certainly up there.

I'd cite Merry Clayton's "rape, murder, it's just a shot away" on Gimme Shelter as its equal.

One of the great moments in rock history, yes. I wouldn't go as far as your assertion however, as its not possible to quantity such a claim.

It's a great moment, but for you youngsters...........after the idealism of the 60's had pretty much crashed and burned and we saw this wonderful decade of teenagers and young people rising and flowering, we saw it was all a pipe dream and our leaders were either flawed, sold out, or died. Why is Pete still loved? Cause he wrote lyrics like this. He showed us the mirror and said 'history ain't changed'. Daltry's scream was the anger and frustration being forced out like John's primal screams. Maybe Pete didn't see it as that kind of representative symbol, but it sure felt that way. And the final words about the new boss/old boss. Yea, I'm royally pizzed off.
