The Owners (2020) - watched it last night, British horror, it's ok The Unholy (2021) - also a newer one, ok for one watch
I am a MASSIVE fan of the first one; loved it ever since I saw it as a kid back in 88 or so. I have the Lionsgate/Vestron Double Feature Blu-ray with the sequel, though I can't stand the second one.
I love the first one. I hadn't seen the second one for years and came across a VHS of it for .25 in a thrift. I'll probably end up donating it to another thrift shop.
LOL...that's what I would do with it, too... Almost cringe-worthy to watch, especially since the original actress didn't return to play Sarah. The original is a bonafide camp classic. I had this Double Feature DVD first, but the films were cropped for full screen for some reason: I replaced that with this: For this Blu-ray release, Lionsgate graciously separated the two films onto separate discs, and they're finally in proper widescreen. The transfers don't look that great, though; the first film looks merely slightly better than an upconverted DVD, so I don't think they gave the restoration much love.
that's a good one, but I haven't seen it in years.. lol I now also think Scary Movie 3 with that scene... I am your daughter lol
This was spoofed in Scary Movie 3? God, I haven't seen any of those in AGES...and I don't think I saw them all.... But, yeah...this is an awesome slow-burn ghost story that is a lesson in how to create goosebump-inducing mood without hitting an audience over the head with quick-rapid pacing or fake CGI splatter moments (post-Carpenter's Halloween, that is). Of course heavily borrowing from the same year's Sixth Sense, notably the ending, this stands on its own as a true chiller, drenched in mood and atmosphere (the thick fog, the soft lighting, et al) and moving at a glacial pace that isn't seen enough in modern horror.
The Exorcist and Exorcist III Alien Kolchak:The Night Stalker Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde The Relic The Haunting of Blu Manor The Awakening
Still a fun movie (which I saw as a kid) and the Blu-ray looks nice (where is the commentary track Warner Archive? Come on!) but the Carpenter version (not a remake really since it goes back to the source novella) was a game changing movie. Nice to view this with The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
it was empty...same ole crap...Isn't there another one that was supposed to be in 2021? not HK as it was schedules for Oct 2020?
I love the Halloween films even the bad ones, but this is a new low for the series, complete with bad acting and a terrible story. EVIL DIES TONIGHT!!!
Damn, I am seeing a lot of negative feedback about Halloween Kills here! I haven't seen it yet, but I feel like it really might not be that good. I'll still watch it, but temper expectations!
