Turns out it's already been done. Anybody remember Beyond Westworld?

I vaguely remember watching this show in 1980.

Great movie. I don't know about a series, though.

  5. Looks interesting. Wonder if this is a walk on and collect the money role from Hopkins or if it'll be a bit more involved.

It looks interesting. It may entice me to keep HBO once this season of Game of Thrones ends.

There's a new trailer out that's about 3 times longer than the original teaser:

Looks great! Westworld was such a great idea for a movie, but the original was pretty lousy. This one looks a thousand times better!

I absolutely love the movie Westworld -- Yul Brunner is super creepy as a precursor to what we later call a "terminator" w/ the advent of Arnold's iconic role. Hope this is great.

People will go and see it and it will make money. Whether it's good or not is irrelevant.

Honestly, I enjoyed Westwood and Futureworld. I always thought a good remake would be combining the two

It won't be the same if it doesn't have the creepy robot faces with the wires and blinking lights. I don't think there was anything from my childhood that scared me more than those faces did.

That's what I assume our Gorts are made of- blinky lights and wires.

Compare his work on Star Trek to what the 'great' Ridley Scott did with Prometheus, and I think you might have to agree that he did a very good job with it.

I presume that remaking an underwhelming and poorly remembered TV series is going to be a lot easier than juggling with the accumulated expectations and plot complexities of the well-loved Star Trek series.

I was surprised that it took so long to get Futureworld on DVD and in fact it was released on Blu ray, before they gave it a release on standard DVD. Anyhow, I love Futureworld.

OT, does anyone remember the commercials Brenner did for the American Cancer Society? They were aired after he passed and he looked at the camera and said something like 'I'm Yul Brennar and I'm dead because I smoked cigarettes'. Really got your attention.

    sorry back to Westworld

Yes. I think it's one of the most effective anti-smoking PSAs ever made.
