I think it was the part about the show getting better with Aaron Paul in it. I mean, has Aaron Paul ever been good in *anything*?
I think it's related to giving the creative team as much time as they need to get it right. On the one hand, I think it's admirable but as a viewer....not so much. Yeah. Breaking Bad, The Path. He's done good work in both. You may not care for him but that doesn't diminish what he brings to the table as a performer.
I thought Paul was genuinely dreadful in Breaking Bad. His failure to break out since that show ended (despite plenty of tries) speaks for itself. Paul's presence notwithstanding, very much looking forward to more Westworld.
Well no doubt the actor peaked with BB( forever synonymous ), same goes for Bryan Cranston. Happens..another one Jon Hamm.
Since BB, Bryan Cranston gets lead roles in critically acclaimed films. Aaron Paul has a Hulu show. Well, "had" - it didn't get renewed. Not at all the same thing.
A lot of turkeys? I don't think so. Some, yes. Anyway, when you're an A-list actor, you get opportunities to star in bad films for a payday. When you're Aaron Paul, you just take whatever you can get.
i mean i guess if jimmi simpson can go from perpetual background and minor character to a significant role, acted well in westworld then maybe aaron paul can too.
GOT is different. You can tell while watching why it took so long to film. The sets are bigger... more grand. The battles are massive. No other show has those issues. WW is taking its time so the writers can create a cohesive story. In spite of originally saying they wanted to plan out the entire run... they don't know where the story is headed yet.
OK - don't want to get hung up on the Aaron Paul thing - it's just that I saw someone refer to him as a "great actor," and was quite puzzled by that. Typically a distinction such as "greatness" is reserved for only the best of the best.
I think Paul has a very limited range, but Jonathan Nolan and the other writers and directors are more than gifted enough to put him in the right role. He'll do fine, especially considering he has so many truly outstanding actors to play off. The few moments of Giancarlo showed how much better these actors can do in a show like WestWorld. Breaking Bad became so stilted, especially Jesse's character with that halting staggering line delivery. It...was...like...what...the...feck.............man! Every word so overemphasized...b*tch. But it worked in the show, so whatever.
That was likely just as much a problem with Gilligan as Paul - which is no suprise; Vince Gillian frequently has no clue what he's doing, either
yes, i was equally puzzled by that. seeing he'll be in this upcoming season is a real head-scratcher for me. but like i said in my post... maybe now is finally paul's time to demonstrate some acting chops? then again, not everyone in westworld is as talented as ed harris, but i guess that's why it's an ensemble.
