Jaco Pastorius-Bass Player

    Just played a jaco cd-Holiday for Pans.seems everytime i play music he recorded either with Weather Report or solo i get frustrated that he is no longer around to play.i live in florida
    very close to where he used to live.still can't believe some bouncer beat him and left him for dead.

    as great as jaco's talent was, and it was considerable, he could also be a real jerk.

    but no one should have to go the way he did.

    a sad day, indeed, when he died.

    Jaco was a manic depressive. That wasn't his only problem as he led a self-destructive life with alcohol and drugs.

    One of my favorite bass players was James Jamerson, the Motown session player. He was extremely creative and in my opinion, probably the one responsible for the Motown groove. I recommend getting the Dr. Licks "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" publication. When I bought it a long time ago, it was only available with cassettes. Now the audio is on two CDs.
