That's why someone like Chris Evans would not want to do it, he was just tied up for years.

Of course but out of one long series into another? Don't see it. Of course he wants to work but different each time for a while. Might be why he's doing a tv series, one place for a while.

All in all Connery had a good and varied career.

In the beginning, being James Bond was not a thing. Doctor No and From Russia With Love were just the priming for Goldfinger, where James Bond really exploded!

Based on many actors past experiences of being type cast in a roll, Connery had some very legitimate concerns about the future of his career, based upon the cartoonish Bond character, which he made fun of himself as being kind of ridiculous.

Connery's deal in resigning to make more Bond movies included that he would be free to make one other movie of his choice every year, in addition to a Bond movie.

Between From Russia With Love and Goldfinger he appeared in Woman of Straw and Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie.

In fact, Connery was never in America during the filming of Goldfinger, he was in England filming Marnie.

Between Goldfinger and Thunderball was The Hill.

Between The Hill and You Only Live Twice, he did A Fine Madness and an uncredited roll in another movie.

He was in several different things between You Only Live Twice, which was in 1967 and Diamonds Are Forever in 1971.

He had a good and steady career up to 2003 when he did The League of Extraordinary Gentleman.

He is currently 88-years old and made a good living in movies for the majority of his life.

I don't think that he necessarily made the wrong decision to jump the Bond ship.

People might have gotten tired of his Bond character and the movies might have went away, who knows?

With regard to "Twit-for-brains" Morgan, young and upcoming violinist appeared on America's Got Talent earlier in her career and this is what "Twit" had do say about her after her performance (fast forward to 3:30).

Along with the TV series, he just finished with two movies which are currently in post production and he has two more movies already in pre-production.

Doesn't look like he has any intention of staying put.

In this business, you best make all the money you can while you can.

Staying put is one foot in the grave!

Jason Statham’s 3 favourite Bond films.

    1- Goldfinger
    2- Casino Royale ( DC)
    3- Skyfall.

DC looks as if he's waiting for a bus in that pic !

    re Bond 25 just hope we don't get another dose of;

some ghastly forgettable tuneless song sung by some ghastly current 'flavor of the month' pop singer non entity...

    then....

An embittered uncharismatic Bond goes it alone with a vengeance...

There is a traitor within the organisation right under their noses...

paying lip service to the classic Cubby era Bond film series whilst trying to seem so superior to that...

having a bland if 'attractive' female of no real personality who is 'Really his equal' with put down of Bond smart ass lines....

having an inept villain who takes themselves mega seriously but is just a parody of a credible Bond foe...

oh and 'dramatic' lines like; 'you only dream when your dead' etc...

and mega fast cut OTT overlong chases where some dude evades Bond who totally unrealistically keeps up after him and busts his ass at the end

    - then Bond after being noticeably marked suddenly hasn't a mark on him...

as another such modern Bond film will send me to sleep....

Do you have any professional screenwriting experience and an absence of drama?

what is the relevance of your question

I know what I enjoy in a Bond film - decent characters that are memorable and make an impression, not bland one dimensional stereotypes going through a checklist of predictable actions...

plus a film that is always centering on the leading male figure of a charismatic Bond who may be a work of fiction but nevertheless works as a character we feel we know and both admire for his - well in the past - charm, wit, single minded determination to do his job and sheer professionalism...and like to see back in action as for all his ruthlessness and absurd ability to survive still as a character at heart is a decent guy who cares that right triumphs over evil in stopping the intended actions of his foes in the service of both his country and the free world - yes it's corny and maybe laughable BUT as a cinematic formula IF played correctly it works well and did for many years - and still can - either as enjoyable well made films or just pure escapism enabling viewers to leave both the worries of modern life and the mundane existence of day to day work etc...

some imagination is badly needed for the Bond film series now to STOP re-hashing more recent core film aspects forevermore re predictable plots re traitors under their nose, bland leading women 'really his equal', and a ghastly po faced charmless embittered humourless 'wounded animal' version of Bond who meekly accepts without witty but cutting sharp response those feminist appeasing aimed infantile silly put downs that would have Ian Fleming turning....and no doubt then firing...in his grave

STOP trying to 'please the (so called) modern audience' forever ticking silly boxes...and get Bond back to being himself regardless of which parties it might conceivably upset, and get him back into credible dangerous situations on proper missions worthy of a Double O agent requiring his wits as much as any credible gadget to save him...in more imaginative well constructed plots against credible and worthy of Bond opponents without just lifting bits of past better made Bond films or borrowing ideas from other action films etc...

there are some decent authors out there whose creative skills could be employed to fashion exciting and very watchable Bond films (aimed at a general audience not just 'snowflakes' and media gossips etc) featuring a more charismatic confident leading figure who doesn't 'sop' to current media trends but just gets on with the task of being a TOP professional agent....

.... a director who gets a cast of villains including Christolph Walz, Andrew Scott, AND Dave Bautista and has them do nothing more than a villain on an episode of NCIS!

Another Bond film where Q is above creating silly gadgets for Bond to use but isn't above sitting with a mopey expression in a damp dungeon typing on a laptop!

Another Bond film where Bond drives a long way to confront the villain but forgets to bring a gun or rifle.

Bond should never play a predictable, politically correct character that he obviously is not. He is a SPY, an intelligence operative, he operates on his wits, intelligence, training and gut feelings to accomplish his missions and survive.

In other words, he is not Rambo, why try to make him a street fighter?

The purpose of an "00" agent is to penetrate the enemy's defenses and to defeat the enemy from within, on the enemy's own turf.

Not to do what is socially acceptable.

Craig is really good at walking into a situation and conveying that he's sized it up, all within a few seconds. That saves time!

I do wonder why there was no attempt to have the 5 Bonds cameo back at Casino Royale.

They wanted Connery to play Kinkade in Skyfall. For Die Another Day they wanted Connery to play an older James Bond which would have made the stupid codename theory cannon. I really have never liked the idea of having any of the previous actors who have played Bond having a cameo in any of the films just to have a nice *wink* moment to the audience.

Am I the only one who believes in the code name theory? I for one can't believe that Daniel Craig in Casino Royale is the same guy as Sean Connery in Dr. No more than 50 years earlier.

Most fans don't believe the codename theory though I am sure there are others like yourself who do. The Craig films are their own separate continuity and have no ties to the first 20 films though there was a theory that Casino and QoS happen at the start of the series then Dr.No through Die Another Day follows with Skyfall coming after Die Another Day which makes zero sense.

I just used Craig as an example. I don't believe that any of them are the same guy. I have long subscribed to the code name theory.

There were enough nods in the series that connected them that I think of it as the same person and that the Craig films are their own series.
