Daniel Craig got a lot of bad press ( UK newspapers) when he was chosen to play James Bond " he looks ugly ect" DC made the critics eat their hats when Casino Royale become a smash hit. Good luck to next fella anyway he'll need it.

I for one thinks this is great news. Craig was dull as Bond and personality wise, couldn't pull off being Bond, James Bond.

Oh, it's a decent to good film, but I don't think it's as good as a lot of people claim - again, partly because "tough guy Moore" doesn't work for me. The lead villain is also a snoozer.

It has good action scenes, though...

Let's keep him from the UK. Thankfully the near misstep of having an american Bond never happened.

    The speculation is fun.
Very hard to find a thirty ish actor to play the part. If the studio wanted a budget Bond 'Eddie Redmayne" could not only play Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, but also the Bond girl as well. :)

How many Bond movies are there now? These current franchise movies are beginning to make Friday the 13th look like a modest art film series. Talk about flogging a dead horse. I bet the next movie out will be Bond vs Batman.

Rather than have Connery come back as Bond, have him come back a Bond and make it clear that "James Bond, 007" is a position rather than a specific individual (a Bond dies/retires and a new agent steps in and assumes the position). In fact, have a scene with all of the previous Bonds returning to pass judgement on Craig's Bond and then choose among a group of agents to be the newest Bond.

It could be "The Weakest Link...and only the strongest one will survive to be Bond." We could have all of the prospective Bonds in one movie, with only one left at the end.

  10. Bond: the earlier crazier years. Didn't Bond always refer to M as Mum?

Yup, happily forgot that one. Thankfully John Gavin didn't happen with the EON Productions team. Close but no martini.

  12. Wasn't Connery actually "Bond" in The Rock?

Interesting that Ian Fleming said he always imagined Robert Mitchum as Bond.

If a American actor gets the role, it can get renamed to "US War Bond":tiphat:

Really? I never heard that one. I remember he thought Bond was more like Hoagy Carmichael.

There was an American Bond in the shape of Woody Allen in Casino Royale, not an offical entry in the filmography, granted!

I also remember reading somewhere that Dick Van Dyke was also considered for the role of Bond.

Accents are pretty easy to learn. Unless you're Dick Van Dyke.

Why bother? They're are plenty of actors from the UK who would be great choices. If they hire an american, like the close call with John Gavin, then it's most likely a major character change. If not, why bother?
