Are the Harrisons mastering based on the new vinyl remastering or just the last mastering available from a few years ago?
Here is well scanned picture, but anyway hard to say, whether it is embossed letters: This is better image, but it would be much nicer in person, I believe:
It's funny, if they had released a promo box, I would have purchased them all. As is, my ATMP should arrive soon.
No, it's not enough - urinal_doctor is a big, big honor... Maybe someday everyone could name himself urinal_doctor...
It was record-quick. Is All Things in a Shell type box? Do Extra Texture and Brainwashed have the textured covers? Does 33 & 1/3 has embossed silver letters?
I will consider a couple if and only if someone actually compares the sound to the last versions and says they are 1) different and 2) better. I am not going to hold my breath.
1. ALL THINGS MUST PASS: Yes, it's in a box. 2. EXTRA TEXTURE: Textured cover Yes, but no die-cut with inner sleeve showing. BRAINWASHED: Yes, textured cover. 3. 33 & 1/3: No embossed lettering.
from what someone told me.....the Die Cut extra and the embossed 33 are only on the original US lp not on the UK ones
If you get a chance, would you please be so kind and take a few pics of some of the CD labels: ATMP, Living In..., Cloud Nine? Thank you!
The original Japanese 'Extra Texture' LP was both textured and die cut, so that one's a miss as far as authenticity goes. However, it looks very nice. The original Japanese 33&1/3 LP did not have the embossed lettering with the silver foil. The B-side label (limo) for Living In The Material World is not represented anywhere. One thing I forgot to check is the Electronic Sound inner sleeve. Both the 2005 and new mini-LPs do not have one. Brainwashed is textured, but awfully dark. The color on the other disc covers is pretty much spot on, unlike the new LPs. However, the Dark Horse Records "label" is very bold instead of the more pale yellow on the original LPs. The Live In Japan hype sticker was a nice touch, but then we're missing stickers for All Things Must Pass, Dark Horse, 33&1/3, Somewhere In England, Cloud Nine and Brainwashed. There's no mastering information (in English) in the booklets. I guess I'll have to use my ears. Overall, this seems like a bit of a rush job. Chip Madinger www.lennonology.com
