Jazz: Samplers from Certain Labels

Have just completet a series of special samplers here:
"JAZZ WEST COAST" - a limited series

Doing a search for "Samplers" not much specific material turned up. Samplers are mentioned here and then but no detailes discussion was found.
Beeing a jazz fan I would like to concentrate on this type of musc.

My question to discuss is how sees the community this kind of LPs covering a crossectio0n of the artists and recorded titels (compilation) on a recording of a c ertain label. Is that a good source of Information?

Have here some from Atlantic, Prestige, Tampa,Pacidic Jazz, Vogue, RCA.
Are you "pro" or "!against" such editions?
