So for the tournament of champions, do they seed players (by number of days or some other non-counting statistic) to try to get the top players facing each other for the two day final? It would be interesting to see Amy, Matea and Matt battle it out rather than meet in the earlier rounds.

Sad that she could have won if she wasn't thinking backwards on her calculation.

Monday's episode was fine... Friday's champ won again. That poor guy in the middle was up and down so much, you'd have thought he was on a teeter-totter.

He had the absolute best introduction line when he said his mother was from Ethiopia and his father was from New Jersey, so, both emerging nations.

The guy in the middle basically stole “Kroc “from the lady on the right who got the name wrong. I guess he had no choice but that behavior seems more typical of Wheel of Fortune contestants.

I meant “first name”. Sorry. But if you watched it you know.

Well all she had to do was just say his last name instead she said "Roy" instead of "Ray" leaving it open for someone to steal. It happens.

Yesterday's game started off really badly with lots of missed questions.

Yeah. Was he supposed to not reply with the right answer out of decency or what? It was kind of cheap, but it wasn't his fault that she screwed up.

Some of his wrong answers were hilarious, such as Out of Africa instead of Dirty Dancing and Jailhouse Rock instead of Blue Christmas. But he did seem pretty young.

Literally laughed out loud at that one, and I very rarely do that.

There seemed to be a lot of post-show taping editing going on in that episode. I wonder if Karim stopped the game and asked Mayim why there weren't any Harry Potter questions.

Like I mentioned up-thread, these contestants under 40 have little clue about the world before the day of their birth.

I hear a lot of overdubbed voice on Mayim’s part.

I pointed that out last night while watching it. You can tell the audio source change at different points of the show.

Just watched a Jeopardy episode from 1984 on YouTube.
The answers were ridiculously easy I thought compared to many of the current ones.
    Here was the first one:
Long running television show about the Cartwright clan.

I thought it odd there was no quickie explanation about the Ray/Roy Kroc thing given how often Mayim Bialik likes to add commentary or supposed laffs.

I found Jeopardy much harder early on, don't remember so much pop/tv/celebrity trivia as more recently, but perhaps my memory is wrong? There were far fewer tv channels in 1984, more general music stations on radio, now with so many specialized outlets and service platforms I find clues about current shows or music increasingly more miss than hit as something or someone I've ever heard of (plus I almost never watch modern 'reality' tv). Even young contestants are often not getting many of those kinds, but I think they've started dialing the amount of that back.

So my memory is of there being more difficult categories like aquatic biology and opera early on, but then maybe whatever tv and pop culture stuff there was on the show back then I knew whereas now I often draw a blank and grumble about 'snoop dogg' or kardashians or whoever not feeling 'right' as material for Jeopardy... :sigh:

I'm in the Jennings camp now for who should be permanent host. He's improved a lot.

Ironically, few contestants today would be likely to know that one.

My reply to that to my wife was nothing like a movie made in 1973 and based in the 50s with Cheap Trick and Van Halen references.

It made me think how many dumb answers or guesses about important things we don’t realize how stupid they are because we don’t know either.
