  1. Yes that cover also impressed me very much... And I liked that it gave me a bit of serious culture creds with one of my elder sisters, whom was a lot more heady than me!

So the two LP version contains the bonus tracks too?

The Amazon UK listing shows side one as disc one, and side two as disc two.

I can't imagine it will sound better than my MSFL reissue, so I'll pass.

I don't generally like Wilson's mix jobs, anyway.

But count me in with love for the album!

I have a not so decent recording of the show I saw - LA Forum sometime in the summer of 1973. That was my first Tull concert and I would have loved a legitimate live album from that tour. I really like "A Passion Play," but I was also very impressed by some of the jams and improvisations the band played during that show. Things like "The Hard Headed English General" and "The Bomb In the Dressing Room." Some of the riffs both Barre and Evan played during these. Plus they played my favorite part (the middle bit) of "Thick As A Brick." A really great show, of which Robert Hilburn, our esteemed rock critic for the LA Times said - "Jethro Tull - rhymes with dull."

Thick As A Brick & drum solo)/Thick As A Brick (reprise), Aqualung, Wind-Up, Instrumental (incl. early 'Minstrel In The Gallery'?), Locomotive Breath/Hard-Headed English General/Wind-Up (reprise)
    Italicised tracks unconfirmed."

I don't know why they list those songs as "unconfirmed" - I have recordings of two nights from the Forum stint, and they both have all those songs. As you say, the sound quality is rough, but I find it quite listenable (and listen I have, hundreds of times over the years!)

I attended one of those Forum shows... it was magnificent - one of my most favorite concert experiences ever. Scarred me for life, in a good way.

I seen the 1st of two shows at Madison Square... August 73.
Great Gig. Tull captured the whole casino.

When I got to my seat there was this kid in it & I said to him " your in my seat " & he said " No Im Not "
He then showed me the exact same seat stub I had but his was for the next days show. He said he could not wait another day to see Tull.

Of the thousands of gigs Ive been to that's the only time something like that has happened to me.

  12. You may want to get it for the Chateau Disaster material -some fine bonus tracks there.

The quality of these '73 tapes is really dodgy. A real shame as this tour deserved to be immortalized with a nice live recording (and film).

I already have the 20 years set and Nightcap. I'll manage with those.

Like I said, I don't generally like Wilson's remixes. I'll probably enjoy the sound of Chateau on my 20 Years vinyl a lot more than I ever would his 5.1.

I've said this before (perhaps even to you) but I don't think that SW's remixes have a signature sound. He doesn't have any 'bad habits' but it would be difficult to find something consistent to latch onto in his mixing work either to like or dislike.

Nightcap is missing 15 minutes of "Chateau D'Isaster" material though.

  18. With or without the 90s flute overdubs (Château material)?

    No US pre-order yet?

The UK CDs would essentially be region free - right?

Anyway. I'm in on this set. If only to get "Horrorville" without the annoying ping pong delay that Ian was so fond of when he mixed in the 90s

As much as I love this album, the Château material doesn't move me that I have heard and I don't know if I want a remix of it so I may pass on this and stick with my trusty U.K. vinyl.

I would disagree somewhat, but that's also why I say "generally."

I'm curious about the flute overdubs too, but those parts of the Chateau set will probably still sound like they're missing something since they are backing tracks for which Ian never wrote words (unless he recorded vocals not used on Nightcap).
