    Re: Aqualung Live

I must add this to complete the Jethro Tull albums to date:

The more I listen, the more I like this. - Not too shabby :D

In aid of various charities for the homeless.

My first music purchase - age 13 - was "Songs from the Wood" in 1977. Rode my bike to the record store. Bought it off the "new releases" wall. I stil listen to that vinyl.

    Fave tull:

    SftW
    Heavy Horses
    Thick as a Brick
    Passion Play
    Minstrel
    Aqualung
    Roots to Branches
    The Christmas Album (nice sonics!).

I can't quite understand why I've never been able to get into Jethro Tull's music beyond the songs, "Living in the Past," and, "Rumble in the Jungle." Their music seems pleasant enough, and I've bought several of their albums and CDs over the past 30-some years, but I just don't seem to, "get," what they're trying to accomplish with their art. My loss I suspect.

Some of the songs brings tears to my eyes. I wonder why no DVD-A or SACD?

Had to laugh at that one. It's Bungle in the Jungle. :)

Sorry, just wanted to point that out.

That is funny! It just goes to show how much I know about Jethro Tull. :o And, even funnier, I spent about 15 minutes yesterday talking to co-workers about Muhammad Ali's career.

That's why I got a chuckle out of it. I was thinking of Ali's boxing match.

A long-time friend introduced me to the works of Jethro Tull when we were in high school. I have been fortunate to see the band twice in concert and loved it each time. Aqualung is still my favorite album. I would love to have a remastered version of M.U. - The Best of Jethro Tull if only for the alternate mixes on that album.

Watery eyes of the last sighing seconds, blue reflection mute and dim beckon tearful child of wonder to repentance of the sin.
Flying so high trying to remember how many cigarettes did i bring.

    Yup, it sure does.

Ian did this back in 1993 with A Little Light Music. Is this new album somehow different from that other than being primarily a studio album?

I was certainly hoping for something different. Maybe Ian doesn't want to be a rock and roll band any longer.

    Cheers

Thats the way it seems but you know he's always been just this side of everone else. I had a really need tree of the band members from the first down the tree to around the 90's i think. Boy,there's been a lot come and go. Wish i still had that link.

Boring??? I'm waiting on tenterhooks for this to come to the US (assuming it does). Jethro Tull just sounds like a bunch of slow old men when they try to do electric rock these days (thanks largely to the unbelievably dull drummer, Doane Perry. Clive and Barrie are sorely missed). I love Tull's acoustic material. A Little Light Music is one of their most beautiful albums (some of the live versions actually top the original studio renditions).
