    Hi all

I received this e-mail, indicating that a new Steven Wilson mix of 'Teacher' (UK Version) is coming out tomorrow. Also, I've heard rumours about Steven mixing 'Benefit' and 'Passion Play'

Is 'Benefit' finally getting the treatment it deserves? :goodie:

Let's hope so. Benefit is my favorite of theirs and could really use some TLC.

Ian Anderson and Steven Wilson have confirmed that new stereo and surround mixes of "Benefit" are coming, with extra tracks, and the same for "A Passion Play" (including the "Chateau D'isaster" material), hopefully to be out by the end of the year, but caution that the recent acquisition of EMI by Universal and Warner have a good chance of delaying the release dates because of the necessary work of integrating the label's holdings.

This is GREAT news!!! Hopefully though...there will be no need for "exchange programs" upon release.

Excellent! I love Steven Wilson's mixes! I wish the ELP deal hadn't come to an end. Love his Tull mixes.

I'll be looking forward to Benefit. Probably my favorite album by JT. Steven Wilson did an excellent job with Aqualung and I can't wait to hear what he does with Benefit.

Happy for this news. Wish they would repair Aqualung clicks and noises throughout blu-ray and DVD-A

  14. Agreed. Benefit, Minstrel, and Stand Up are I would all love to see in remixed form. Stand Up probably needs it more than the other two though, very odd mixing choices throughout the album.

"Benefit" and "A Passion Play" :goodie:

Probably my two favorite Jethro Tull Albums.

.....and "Chateau Disaster" (in its true form) is one of their very best as well!

I passed on this 7" in my local independent, today. I wish they'd done the original 'Life's a long Song' maxi single instead. :sigh:

man it would be great if somebody could make an mp3 file of the new SW "Teacher" mix for those of us across the pond, especially those of us who do not have a turntable. ;)

I don't know if I know the version you're talking about. I was gifted the Record Store EP, and I'm just listening to 'Teacher' now. Holy guitars...it sounds totally different from the version I know and love. It would be a nice bonus track on Benefit re-issue, but that's it, imo.

This is from the U.K. single version ponkine mentioned (busier guitar part, no flute or piano, ride cymbal rather than hi hat in the verses) rather than the version from Benefit usually heard on radio in the U.S.
