John Buchanan I'm just a headphone kind of fellow. Stax Sigma

I think SH tried to get Benefit in the DCC years and something failed in the process (if you remember the Aqualung saga - waiting 7 (IIRC) years for the UK master tape and it was badly damaged). Possibly the master was unavailable or if it was, it was more damaged than the Aqualung tape. SH could tell the story anyway.
I'm really hoping for a Steve Wilson remix here to give the sound something to listen to beyond midrange, as well as some dynamics.

So it's a 4 track single? Must be 33 rpm instead of 45 then, right?

Isn't that Living In The Past EP for the UK only? Thought I saw that somewhere.

I just bought a German issue of this today at a local shop. Not sure of it's production date, nor if a tad of no-noise has been applied or not. But it sounds pretty darn good. I hear hiss and tape noise at the end/beginning of at least, some tunes. Adding to my collection of the early US DADC, the early 00's remaster and the 'Originals' boxset edition.

I just posted the DR info on the DR site...it has the best DR I've found on Benefit, but don't find any 'love' for it. Oh well....I like it and for $3.98, a nice Benefit for my collection. :D

Well, it's not likely to happen, as i find this one okay, and I'm not motivated to buy another version. It's a little bit artificial, but I can hear what's going on and it sounds like music. Don't even have a vinyl copy to put it alongside.

If Steven Wilson is doing or has already done a 5.1 mix and remaster, I assume they must have already unearthed the multi-track masters.

    Eagerly awaiting this one!

I am in for a remix on this title. It needs it. A deluxe box would be welcomed.
5.1 Passion Play sparks my interest too.

It's supposed to have all the extra tracks, like Aqualung did.

They dropped the ball on that one with the previous remaster, I expect they know better now.

Did you check youtube? Check for UK single version and US album version. They are quite different - I much prefer the US version....

    Edit -

Isn't there a version of #1 <UK> on the most recent Benefit remaster? I think it's mislabeled as the US version.

The remaster contains the US version mislabeled UK.

This is the best version in my opinion: Keyboard right on M.U. best of, MFSL Living in the Past, Benefit Remaster, & 2CD The Best Of Jethro Tull Anniversary Collection Original Mixes

I like the flat sounding Teacher on M.U. best of Tull the most.

I have this box and it is the best for so far... I do have a couple copies of the vinyl which is my go to.

  24. Do you like the sound better than on the MFSL of Living in the Past? I think it is the same version/mix.
