  1. Interesting, I will have to compare again sometime soon.

I have the UK Chrysalis for "M.U." and I wonder if it is the same. Anybody have the peak level info for the US Chrysalis of "M.U'"?

This. Sounds great and the bonus tracks (Witch's Promise, Singing All Day, Teacher...) are excellent.

It's a cool picture disc from Japan. Brighter than the rest. Includes US Teacher, not UK as listed.

I like "Benefit" from 3CD's Box Set "Originals" (EMI, 1997).

The best UK version of Benefit on CD to date.

Don't forget the new Steven Wilson mix on the RSD Extended Play 7", which will probably be on the new version.

it's all subjective to the listener...follow your own ears!
most likely the mastering is the same as the Japanese Mini LP...
The US CD is OK, nothing spectacular but I like it....now with Aqualung that's another story!

The Mini-LP is the same as the 2002 remaster.

The US Chrysalis CD is the best stereo Benefit I have heard so far. Very smooth and crankable. I would say it is pretty spectacular when you've heard how bad this album can sound! :shh:

I think I have the VK. Can't say if F2 is the same.

Both. The VK is the first pressing and the F2 is the second. Some VK cases have F2 CDs inside (this also applies to other Chrysalis artists.)

This is an incredible record and it's sad how poorly it sounds. I wish Steve was given the opportunity to work on this and produce a product in the formats this particular record deserves.

VK and F2 are the same in packaging and sound. The VK catalog number came first and is more desirable to collectors.

Hopefully all this will become "academic" when the new Steven Wilson version comes out this fall. :agree:

But it won't include the original mix will it?

I believe the DVD-A will have it in addition to the new stereo mix and surround mix. That's how it's usually done.
