I dream of this happening. Surely they had to have recorded something from the TAAB tour?!? Wishful thinking perhaps but in he least the pre-overdub band run through if he album Wilson mentioned would be very welcome. Anything we don't already have is always very welcome!

Would work fine if BO and HH was combined into one set.

Until HH there is also time for a proper Benefit bookstyle set

    This!

Might be time to start a petition. This is the only one I misssed because word was that the mastering was botched.

Dark Ages was debuted on the last leg of the Heavy Horses tour in April 79, so I'd be surprised if it was finished before HH was released.

In 2001, David Palmer played an unreleased Tull song, Apocalypse, I'm not sure if this is a HH or Stormwatch outtake, anyone know?

I wouldn't buy it. The deluxe set is very good as it is. Ecxept the format it is everything the other deluxe sets are. And excepting the format, what else can they do with it?

The associated recordings will probably be these:
    10. Horse-Hoeing Husbandry (previously unreleased)
    11. Beltane
    12. Living In These Hard Times
    13. Broadford Bazaar
    14. A Stitch In Time (long and short versions)
plus maybe some early versions of Stormwatch tracks...

One White Duck/Pibroch was played on the Oct 78 US tour, it wasn't played on the May 78 European tour when BO was recorded.

Here's a typical May 78 setlist (with John Glascock), songs not on Bursting Out are underlined

    No Lullaby
    Sweet Dream
    Skating Away
    Jack in the Green
    One Brown Mouse
    Heavy Horses
A New Day Yesterday / flute solo / God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen / Bouree / Living in the Past (inst) / A New Day Yesterday
    Songs from the Wood
    Wond'ring Aloud
    Hunting Girl
Too Old to Rock & Roll
    Conundrum
    Minstrel In The Gallery
    Cross-Eyed Mary
    Locomotive Breath
    Thick as a Brick
    Quatrain
Aqualung / Dam Busters March / Aqualung

The set was rejigged for the US tour in Oct 78 with Tony Williams
    No Lullaby
    Sweet Dream
    Thick as a Brick
    One Brown Mouse
    Heavy Horses
My God / flute solo / God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen / Kelpie / Bouree
    One White Duck / Pibroch
    Songs from the Wood
Too Old to Rock & Roll
Conundrum #2 (different from the inst played in May)
    Cross-Eyed Mary
    Quatrain
    Aqualung
    Locomotive Breath
    Dam Busters March / Aqualung

April 79 tour with John Glascock
    No Lullaby
    Sweet Dream
    One Brown Mouse
    Heavy Horses
My God / flute solo / God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen / Kelpie / Bouree
    One White Duck / Pibroch
    Songs from the Wood
The Water's Edge (intro) / Dark Ages
    Conundrum #2
    Cross-Eyed Mary
    Thick as a Brick
    Quatrain
    Aqualung
    Locomotive Breath
    Dam Busters March / Aqualung

I can't see that either Bursting Out or MSG would be folded into the HH set as that would compromise the stand alone releases. Would Ian release a third show from the tour? I hope so.

    - Blues Instrumental
    - Apocalypse (previously unreleased)

I am an audio guy. I Rarely watch video content more than once. So i still would not shell out that money for exclusive videocontent. Now if the audio for that gig is good then i might spring for it.

How about, the Thoroughbred Edition... ;)

As much as this will be a much anticipated release, I'm not expecting this to be released towards the end of the year. Somehow, I'm going to predict we'll receive a readapted edition of Thick as a Brick and This Was can be released after Heavy Horses next year. :)

Well, I cast my vote for Benefit over Brick.

Format is important to me and I would buy a Benefit book in a heartbeat, especially if the book was fleshed out with articles, timelines, and photographs like the others in the series. Finally it would look good on my shelf next to the rest. Maybe add the Carnegie Hall concert (it's a more natural home here than with the deleted Stand Up reissue), but the rest of the content could be the same.

As for Thick As A Brick, I just listened to the surround mix on Tuesday and it sounded amazing. I have the "bad" version, but not that I would ever know that if I didn't read this forum. Whatever. I simply don't hear all the stuff audiophiles on this board hear. Sorry, I just don't. But it would be nice to see this set back inn print for those that want it anyway.

If it were up to me:
    • Benefit book set in Fall 2017
    • Heavy Horses in Spring 2018
    • Thick As A Brick in Fall 2018
    • Stormwatch in Spring 2019
That way you could keep the releases coming but you'd lighten Mr. Wilson's work somewhat with the re-releases.

Which is ofcourse fine. I don't wish for those who want a Benefit deluxe reissue to not have it :)

Whatever it is, we know it won't be Heavy Horses: the pedestrian edition. ;)

After some thinking, I do kinda hope we get Jakko to remix Carnegie Hall after all, as the two tracks that made the Living in the Past compilation, will ultimately complete a mostly completed Steven Wilson remixed compilation after This Was is done of course. Heck, release them both for the hypothetical Benefit book if need be - but it will need to be worthwhile should those multi-track tapes for The Witch's Promise hopefully show up.

In 2014 I ordered the Thick as a Brick set from Burning Shed and I received the corrected edition without the bad mastering and it sounds great. I don't know if it's still available...

I think the next one will be This Was (probably in november) because Steven Wilson said on a Facebook post that he'll do it in 2017. I don't know how he is going to remix a 4-track album in 5.1 with 6 channels?
