Mixing from 4 tracks to 5.1 can be done It can be done, but it is pretty much confirmed that HH is next.

  4. Good! And hopefully Stormwatch coming after.

Add Carnegie Hall, Tanglewood, maybe they've found the tapes for "Witch's Promise" to remix.

Now that would be a whole different story. I don't really care about formats of sets. And the Benefit book was really good imo. But could they unearth something new, or just make a decent mix of Carnegie i'd be in.

Yes, of course. Mixing in 5.1 is not just putting one track in one channel.

And anyway I really start to think the mention of This Was was a slip-up. We never discussed it, contrary to Heavy Horses and Stormwatch.

You are right, the song was included on the "songs from the wooden grammophone" bootleg which was recorded live in early 1977. However the track Dark Ages is from an unknown date. Anyways still hoping there's a studio recording of this version perhaps to be included with Stormwatch.

It was NOT played during the SftW Tour.
The recording on Songs from the wooden Grammophone is from April 1979

    Yes that's what I said.

  13. I agree....I'm happy to skip the This Was as I think the content we have now is fine (I do miss the big box, but that's ok).

Since 2018 also is the 50th anniversary of JT, I tend to hope for more than only HH deluxe. Something with This Was would thus be the obvious choice.

I still don't understand what Steven Wilson is supposed to do with a short album of 4 track recordings that wasn't already done well enough by Peter Mew?

50th Anniversary is too interesting thing to be ignored. imho This Was will see the light of day in some new form, I expect the book form either this or the next fall. it would be a very nice Xmas present :nyah:. but if it comes in the end of 2018, I think we'll get new Benefit in some 6 months.

Agreed but it is only stereo. People want it in surround. It wouldn't be a very immersive mix à la SFTW, though.

I keep forgetting there is such a thing as 5,1.

What's wrong with Carnegie from the 2010 Stand Up? I prefer it to the 25 Anniversary box version and it has both the LitP tracks.

Yep, a DVD of Tanglewood would tip me over the edge to buy it again!

It's ok, but in my opinion it could be better. Somehow the mix it lacks the power that Isle of Wight disc and even the 25 Anniversary box set had.
