For the upcoming Minstrel In The Gallery remix, there will be a single CD reissue, as well as a vinyl LP release, and a fan set La Grandé with 2 CDs and 2 DVDs. The single CD issue will offer fourteen tracks, eight more than the original. The vinyl LP version will likely offer only the original eight. The Box will a book-style (like War Child), and feature an 80-page book with photos, an extensive history of the creation and recording of Minstrel In The Gallery, liner notes, and a host of other goodies. The 2 CD/2 DVD La Grandé set will present the following track-listing:

    CD1:
    01. Minstrel In The Gallery
    02. Cold Wind To Valhalla
    03. Black Satin Dancer
    04. Requiem
    05. One White Duck
    06. Baker St. Muse
    07. Grace
    08. Summerday Sands
    09. Requiem
    10. One White Duck
    11. Grace
    12. Minstrel In The Gallery-BBC Version
    13. Cold Wind To Valhalla-BBC Version
    14. Aqualung

    CD2:
    01. Introduction
    02. Wind Up
    03. Critique Oblique
    04. Wond ring Aloud
    05. My God
    06. Cross-Eyed Mary
    07. Minstrel In The Gallery
    08. Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of The New Day
    09. Bungle In The Jungle
    10. Aqualung
    11. Guitar Solo
    12. Back-Door Angels
    13. Locomotive Breath

Other highlights from this multi-disc set include the obvious adds:
    – Original album and seven bonus tracks (six previously unreleased), two mixed to 5.1 surround, and all to stereo by Steven Wilson
    – Flat transfers of the original LP mix at 96/24 (plus Summerday Sands )
    – Flat transfer of the original quad mix of the LP (plus Summerday Sands )
    – An eight-minute film of the band performing Minstrel In The Gallery in Paris from July 1975

Been patiently waiting for this album to get "the treatment" for yeears. My old well worn green label Chrysalis will finally be retired as it needs to be.

The description does not seem to include a Stephen Wilson 5.1 mix for the entire album, only 2 songs. Am I reading that correctly? A problem with the multitracked masters perhaps?

My favorite Tull album... I knew it would come, but I wasn't expecting it this soon. SW has done great work on the rest of the catalog so far (his 5.1 mix even converted me from "admirer" to "fan" of A Passion Play), and given that I already love this album (especially "Baker St. Muse"), I can't imagine not enjoying his new take on it. And to have the original quad! Fantastic. Which reminds me, I need to pull out my Aqualung box and listen to that quad mix, too... Don't think I've done that, yet.

As for what's next (and what's left), I imagine only Songs From The Wood and Heavy Horses will get new releases, although I'd love to have Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young To Die! as well. Frankly, the whole studio discography (less The Jethro Tull Christmas Album, perhaps) would be welcome.

I think not, since "all" are to be mixed to stereo; I think this is reference to the bonus tracks. Only two of the bonus tracks will be mixed to 5.1, and all of the bonus tracks to stereo. There's no reason to think the original seven-track album won't be mixed in both stereo and 5.1 by SW (erroneously stated as eight tracks in that "leak," along with the equally confusing reference to there being eight additional tracks on the first CD, which is somehow supposed to add up so that 8 + 8 = 14... :disgust:). On the 2002 remaster, we got:

    8. "Summerday Sands"
    9. "March The Mad Scientist"
    10. "Pan Dance"
    11. "Minstrel In The Gallery" (live, truncated: acoustic intro only)
    12. "Cold Wind To Valhalla" (live, truncated: acoustic intro only)

Strange that "March The Mad Scientist" and "Pan Dance" won't feature this time. I hope the BBC recordings on this new release (probably the same performances) are complete. I also hope the high-pitch whine present on the 2002 remaster is gone on both the new mixes and the flat transfers of the old mixes. If it's a problem with the stereo master tapes... Well, that's a shame. Hopefully it was just a mastering error from 2002.

    Amazon US.

March The Mad Scientist and Pan Dance were on the "Warchild" reissue last year, presumably as they came from the same sessions

I still haven't bought the 40th anniversary editions of Passion Play and War Child, I need to go back and buy the special editions for This Was, Stand Up, and Benefit and now Minstrel, one of my favorite Jethro Tull albums? Bloody hell!

If Steven Wilson goes up to Heavy Horses, then I'll be happy.

Also Stormwatch. If SW (or IA!) should come by this thread he should know that there are people who love and would buy a 40th remix of Stormwatch aswell.
