  1. Yes, he was a real good player of that material! In what I have heard from "A Passion Play" (live) so far, he was at his top there! In the studio, my favorite Jeffrey is on "War Child"...with that splendid tone!

...And yes, this is part of the set.

How's the mastering on the new, plain ol' single CD version?

Anybody else disappointed that the back cover of the box isn't upside down?

    That's just wrong.

"Evelyn, the Dog", by Frank Zappa, brings up the notion of "panchromatic resonance", not a very usual theme.

  7. Wasn't it right side up in the UK (and Europe)? Maybe I just imagined that...

Although this album has never really clicked with me, I feel there is killer album there for my discovery. Hard to think that Tull really could release a lackluster album in the streak they were on in the 70s. Is there anyone really, who could match the level of excellence they did from Stand Up to Stormwatch?

This. Every Jethro Tull album has merit.

It's the remix. You'd probably like it.

Must admit: great sound, weak album.

Huh; I always thought the reverse. It's my favourite post-Aqualung (the end of their "classic" era) album, but I thought the sonics were merely o.k., being done on a mobile rig.

Making my way through the various mixes. Perhaps an epiphany awaits.

Does anyone else find BB's drumming a bit distracting in places on the live disc? I'm a huge fan of his drumming and I normally think of him as very precise and well placed at all times. Some of the older material on the live disc sounds like a**holes and elbows flailing around. Kind of shocking actually. But I am enjoying the live disc very much, although I may succumb to doing a custom edit of the My God flute solo. I did that with the Bursting Out NDY>Bouree flute solo and I find it much more listenable without all the "hum, hum HUM" wanking that Ian indulges in ad nauseum.

So, who's holding on to the old CD for the two short live fragments?

John Buchanan I'm just a headphone kind of fellow. Stax Sigma

Was it upside down in the US? I've never seen one like that - the only difference I noted was the bottom half of the back cover (the mess on the bottom of the stage) was apparent on one edition and not on the other.

So why is Too Old so hated?

I've always loved it and felt it fit in perfectly with the whole canon? Lot of great songs, a concept. Don't get it.

For me, it would be a pause, until - I hope - SFtW and HH get the treatment.
