I’m sure the majority of the Tull catalog is flute heavy but I’ve heard a few tracks without it.
What are your favorite non-flute Jethro Tull songs?

...does Dr. Bogenbroom have flute? I'm running it through my head right now and I don't recall any, but I might be wrong. But if it does have any, it's not much, so I'd throw that in there too.

Great song, but it has a flute that starts playing from the end of the second chorus onwards.

There are several tracks on This Was that don't have the flute, and Move on Alone is the best one out of them in my opinion. I'm aware they did attempt it with the flute, but ultimately the final version of the song had a horn section replacing it instead.

  16. "Benefit", like "This Was", features four flute-less tracks, two of which having not been mentionned so far: "For Michael Collins..." and "Nothing To Say".

"Aqualung" also has several ones, including or excluding the ones with the mellotron on the flute stops, depending... The most famous of the hits and my own favorites being the title track and "Wind-Up".

The two best-known examples are probably "Aqualung" and "Too Old....," and a lot of Ian's solo acoustic pieces don't have flute. Of those, one of my favorites is "One White Duck/0^10=Nothing at All." I don't think there's a flute on the long version of "Wond'ring Aloud"; I like that one too. And there are several hunks of A Passion Play in which Ian is too busy with the sax to bother with the flute.

In many live performances, the rest of the band will play an instrumental while Ian ducks offstage for a break. In the 1970s, these performances typically bookended a drum solo by Barrie Barlow (which the CD/DVD packaging always calls an "improvisation" even though it's clearly the same solo year after year but that's another whole thing don't get me started). "Conundrum" is probably the most widely heard of these because it's on Bursting Out but there are other good ones, like the performance after "Locomotive Breath" at Madison Square Garden 1978 which eventually received the title "A Single Man." (The studio version on Stormwatch does have a flute, but Ian's offstage for the MSG performance.)

Very nice track with no flute. Lots of tin whistle though.

"Mother Goose" also (Those are recorders).

I've just thrown it on and you're right. Little wisps of it in the background, not exactly an integral part of the tune, but nonetheless, there it is. Still makes my list of favourites with or without flute though. :)
