I posted a clip of Home on my friend's FB page when he died of cancer last yr. It's a ballad and a song that I don't think Ian ever did anything else quite like, when thinking back over his gargantuan output. I imagine it was influenced by John Glascock's passing. I don't believe the original version of this one was released on anything other than Rock Island, was it?
Glascock passed after Stormwatch was released. Still a beautiful song. The atmosphere on the album is absolutely captivating to me and is something really unique in their catalog. Everybody hit it out of the park on this one. David/Dee Palmer especially. I am sad at the prospect of these reissues ending, but what a great one to end on if it is so. Misty colours unfold a backcloth cold Fine tapestry of silk I draw around me like a cloak And soundless glide a-drifting On eddies whirled in beech leaves furled Brown and gold they fly In the warm mesh of sunlight Sifting now from a cloudless sky
I never gave Stormwatch any attention until recently. I find that I listen to it all the way through when I put it on the turntable. I really like how bass guitar forward the mixes are with that late 70’s chorus effect. You can tell that it’s Ian playing on some of the tracks with his riffy attack. This element gives the album a distinct voice in the ‘folk trilogy’. For my money, Flying Dutchman is right up there with the finest of the Tull canon. Sublime. I can’t wait to hear what Steven Wilson does for the mixes.
It's greast how we're all different. Catfish was the final go Tull had at a more bluesy sound, and for that I'll be forever thankful. It's great from start to finish, and yes the arrangements are more straightforward - but that's befiting the bluesy feel, imo.
What an album that is. The best he's been involved in for over thirty years in my view. Such a brilliant record

Damn, for a second you had me believing you were posting pictures of the set before it got announced! You big teaser!
Sorry, but could you do that with more Tull albums than "Stormwatch" or do you happen to have a special affection for it? Impressive! [/QUOTE]
I've got a large framed German tour poster from 1982 with full "Broadsword" artwork but that "Stormwatch" looks damned nice as well!
It's too cold outside. = Listening to one of my first Tull CDs – VK 41238 (made in USA). The best part for me: Home 2:44 Dark Ages 9:07 Warm Sporran 3:31 Something's On The Move 4:24 Old Ghosts 4:20 Dun Ringill 2:37 Flying Dutchman 7:42 Elegy
By the way, seems like no Jakko J is involved this time. I start to suspect that the live content is the BBC documentary.
