Ugh! If I had been Mettler I would have come in right after that answer and said, “Great!... and forgive me for repeating myself, but... Crest of a Knave...?” (And I get that the July 2022 for Broadsword is in a bit of dispute now. I didn’t see the actual date of that interview listed.)

So excited for this release. And my goodness, MORE unreleased music?! Sounds like this may as well be a double album.

    Might as well be...

    CD 1. The Broadsword
    CD 2. The Beast

    :shh::agree::winkgrin:

Wishful thinking but it obviously won't be that way. Just curious whether the drums got touched upon now...

It would have been a double album already without the so far unreleased tracks.
My Playlist of all the tracks I have already from these sessions is something between 90 and 100 minutes...

When Ian was resting his voice in 85, they should have put out an album of BSatB leftovers. I think it would have been better than the actual album.

I don't think it would have been better.
    Different but on par.
I understand why they were left out. The flow of the album is great.
But another album in 1983 would have been just as good as Broadsword.

I have a full length CD made up from the outtakes I have. This set could be massive.....

    Disc 1 : The album
    Disc 2 & 3 : Outtakes
    Disc 4 & 5 ; A concert
    DVD's Galore!!

I’m partial to Walk Into Light. An 85 album might have been construed as back pedaling. And Crest possibly wouldn’t have become the fans’ darling.

  8. Ian mentioned some demos were being included.

In addition to Walk into light. I love Walk into light the way it is.

It’s probably my favorite 80s Tull related album.

The byline says Feb 4, 2022 and it seems pretty recent but no actual date. And yeah too bad MM didn't follow up about Crest. That should be a "Special Grammy Box Set" signed by the original players and the members of Metallica. (Actually it would be cool to do a version of "Steel Monkey" with those guys, and they are probably humourous enough to do it...but I'm not holding my Motorbreath...)

At the risk of being chased out of the thread by fellow fans armed with torches and pitchforks, I hope there is still, besides that big box, also a bookset on the side for Broadsword.

I sure could do with a condensed bookset, not only because I'm not a fan of mega super ultra deluxe boxes, but also because, after all this time waiting for a Benefit bookset to appease my collector OCD, a bookset shelf without Broadsword would drive me nuts.

Big in terms of content. There's no reason to believe that the box has a different format.

Don't know if this has been posted before, but here's a 1982 TV interview with Ian on the David Letterman show.
