Same mix, different mastering. Consensus is that Mew went overboard mastering the remix in 2012, so the 2015 edition was in a rawer state.
Well, I would have preferred Broadsword too, but I'm guessing this news will make a lot of people happy who missed out on the original release (except those who shelled out $300 for it on Discogs! LOL)
The fact that they are re-releasing at all is nice. Now... am I going to be a sucker and buy my 10,000 version of TAAB on vinyl to get the cool packaging? Of course.
I've got corrected 2012 bookset and 2015 HDTRACKS unmastered stereo remix so I'll definitely pass. But I'm happy for all of those who are missing this bookset.
just saw a 2012 boxset for sale for 400 euros today, YIKES So.....Lets hope they bother to do War Child and Minstrel Represses as boxsets, sold mine off, and i regret
Nothing new then, I assume. Still, I'm really pleased for all those people who missed out on the set and have had to bite their fingers over the excruciating prices wanted secondhand. Watch Ebay fill with people selling on their current set in an effort to cash in, knowing a cheap replacement is just around the corner.
MUST HAVE BOTH!!!!!! I have the Steven Wilson remix vinyl with the booklet but will get this one with the newspaper. Never had the CD/DVD so it's an automatic buy.
If it is just a re-press, it wouldn't be as much work. Maybe they are doing this as a way to give those of us going through Tull box set withdrawal something to buy this year.
I just spent a ton on the TaaB deluxe edition but only because it's autographed by Mr. Anderson. If I have the HDTracks download of the Steven Wilson mix is it worth me getting the 2015 official standalone CD for any reason? My need for "Official CD Release" versus burned is jonesing.
I stumbled across a sealed, fixed-disc version last year. I was stunned because I had assumed it would be the flawed version. Imagine my surprise seeing that small line on the disc indicating the fixed version. So while I’m good, I’m really happy for people who now have a chance to get this and fill that hole on their shelf. Would have been cool, though, if Wilson could have done an Atmos version to include, but then that would have likely defeated the purpose of a relatively easy re-issue for the label.
I'm glad that I will be able to fill the only gap in my JT booksets collection, but on the other hand I'm dissapointed because I hoped for something more that just straight reissue of the 2012 box. One of the best and most appreciated albums of the Jethro Tull discography has the poorest deluxe edition. No bonus tracks, no live show. "Benefit" was reissued and expanded to the 6 discs, "Aqualung" was reissued and we received new mix by Steven Wilson. My only hope (but it's probably just my wishful thinking) that it's just early announcement and that not everything is clear for now...because when you see at the prices on Burning Shed...6 discs "Benefit" costs £33,99, 2 discs "TAAB" costs the same? Weird...
They should have included a digital version of the St Cleve Chronicle with annoying pop ups like current local newspaper websites
I have just learned about the repress with everybody else, so I can't offer more info! I just hope they get the fixed, Mew-less masters in there.
