Maybe the Living in the past mimed bit from 76?

It will be nice if there is a quad mix, but I doubt there is one.
1 - Ian said there were only 3 quad albums, we already have them.
2 - The third one (Minstrel) was not released, so it's doubtful they would have mixed a fourth.
3 - It was 1976, all the labels had shelved quad, with just a handful of non-classical titles getting released.

(I am being facetious but) Ian also said that Benefit was named after the Carnegie Hall benefit show in late '70, months after Benefit was released. I would trust posters on here over Ian Anderson's accounts of Tull's recordings and history, however amusing they often are.

True, a lot of the details of his musical career are just mundane moments to him, a lot of such memories can get blended in with others. Then, there are people who know things and people who think they know things, but I'm satisfied that a lot of factual accounts are coming out.

I don't think I've ever heard HEAVY HORSES.

Here's another thing that has puzzled me. In 1980, after Stormwatch, Bob Ezrin was asked to produce the next Jethro Tull album, but he had to decline at the very last minute. Was there still an idea to produce another Tull album with Barre, Evans, Palmer and Pegg (Barrie had already quit at that point) with Ezrin as a producer, or had Ian asked to him to produce his first solo album? (Which of course, was released as the next Tull "A" after the discussion with Chrysalis.)

You should give it a try, very much in the spirit and style of Songs From the Wood... or just wait for the 40th Anniversay set in 2018 :)

I will. I'd forgotten about HEAVY HORSES, to be honest. I went straight to STORMWATCH!
Listening to the MINSTREL IN THE GALLERY quadrophonic mix at the moment, BTW.

  9. "Heavy Horses" is even better than "Songs From The Wood"!

SFtW is a cool album, but I have always found it a bit contrived (stylistically) and have never really liked some of the sounds composing it, like the phasing effect on the electric guitar, and also some of the electronic keyboards. Those keyboards actually seem to be replaced to a certain degree on HH by real strings, and that is a major plus in my book... Those beautiful D. Palmer string arrangements!

Shame the live releases tend to be left out.
A SW mastered Bursting Out would probably be amazing.

I would go with a full Bursting out show included in the HH deluxe.

Horses is great. I really like the Stormwatch package with its bonus tracks. Can't wait for these 2 remixes

Again, Steven Wilson does NOT REMASTER these reissues, he REMIXES them.

Please, it is a different process, know the difference. The two terms are NOT interchangeable.

Would Advertising man and Commercial traveller be studio recordings? I really hope so. Would be awesome if there are at least a couple more surprise studio tracks. Could be some real gems. Good godmother is probably my fave tull song from 1974. Ian leaves the best to last

1976 could end up being another great year for tull.

From what I remember, the song was re-recorded, and then the band mimed over the new recording. There was another song performed at that TV show, but I can't remember which one now.

There are going to load this up with enough extra stuff to push me over to the 'buy' side aren't they.

I was disappointed when Minstrel didn't have extra studio tracks because most of the songs lacked something imo

 You're good for Too Old. So how is Songs From the Wood coming along. ;);) :-popcorn:
    o_O

I was referring to this as the others:
    Posted in thejethrotullboard:

"The TOTRnRTYTD will include the TV special, Ian did have a few loose ends to work out. They have been ironed and it will be in the release, and with a few unearthed tracks. Some more goodies to be included."

At least two unreleased tracks confirmed by IA: Advertising Man, Commercial Traveller; recorded in Brussels.
