I run mine at 1.75 grams with the brush down. Since I run my TT sans dust cover, it picks up little airborne nasties that land on the vinyl while playing. It is suprising how much fine dust comes off the brush when it clean it between sides. This is AFTER a carbon fiber brushing and blast of compressed air.

Can you take the brush off altogether? When I tried a Shure M97xE, with or without the brush down the side of the cartridge collided with the record clamp at the end of every LP preventing the needle reaching the final run-out groove around the record label. If you could detach the brush and its plastic mounting bracket, this might overcome the problem.
