that's nice get a grip Thanks again for calling me ignorant. At least I know it, you put yours on display. It's ok if you believe in junk science. The acoustics in a home are close to perfect for hifi reproduction to begin with, a bit of 'rule of thumb' tweaking and you are there. Days of work by engineers will make 0 difference. You have lost the plot skippy. The goal is listening enjoyment of music, not lab grade measurements.Have you ever worked in a technical field? It sure seems like you've not. I doubt you even own a hifi, you are here 1 month and argumentative in every post you enter. One of those types. It is rather amusing since you bloviate endlessly and pedantically on subjects you claim to know nothing about. A lot of that going around. You have a lot of opinion, but 0 fact or science. Let's see your well sorted room. Didn't think so. I eagerly await your next rant. Have a nice day. Here's my room.
83.46% - Used a laser measurement device and set speakers 8'10" apart measured at the tweeter, 10'7" to my ears with toe in angle where speakers cross just behind my head. The speaker cones are 3"1" from the back wall and are well clear of side walls.
Try playing with toe in. So far, in my case, less seems better. The 0.83 = a 24.5 deg off axis LP. I split the difference and aimed them ~ 12 deg. In your case ~ 2'3" either side. About 20' behind your head. But if the space behind is shorter, aim them at the center of the rear wall.
I did a CAD dwg of the setup in my media room. It has a 12 foot ceiling with an 16"x16" coffer around the perimeter:
nice I bet that sounds excellent I made an error 20' from speaker plane So ~ 20' - 10' = 10' behind LP
I do not connect my laptop to my system, I only measure it's output with a stand alone microphone and phantom power supply connected to the mic in jack. XLR to 3.5mm jack using an adaptor cable. For the full bandwidth pink noise to play through the speakers I use a test CD which is also available for download. Track 44 on this disc, on repeat. https://www.amazon.com/Sheffield-A2TB-Test-Disc-My/dp/B000V93NKY My Disc
nicely done ! PS- subwoofers like space too. In the corner like that is bound to give you a high peak at one frequency- probably 60 Hz or so. See if you can move it away from walls by at least 12" per side and see how you like. Bottom line- subwoofers like to be optimally placed for even response even more than speakers do.
aim the laser pointer from speaker centerline to ~2'3" either side of your LP. This will cross ~ 10' behind the LP. Try it, no guarantees , lol, it opened up the soundstage for me, sounded better, more like I was in the middle of it all, 3?dimensional. If this does not cross or at least converge on the rear wall increase toe a bit.
I hear ya. The sub is kinda trapped back in that corner. I'll try it out in the middle between the speakers and see how that goes.
Updated room layout. I don't know... I don't like how the sub intrudes into the speaker plane and I'd have to remove the doors from my stereo cabinet. I may be stuck with it in the corner but I'll still try it in the middle and see how that goes.
Could you shift all gear left and then angle the sub and pull it out a foot or so? Aim it to the diagonal corner. Or as is, pull the sub out and pivot/rotate around the Dual as far as you can before it interferes?
Corner might be ok, just try to slide it out a bit instead of cramming it really into the corner. Ideally you should have a smaller kallax on the right (and move the Dual next to the marantz on the left?). That would give you some space to better position the sub (positioning it like @NoBody99 said).
The fully loaded Kallax would have to be unloaded and then I would lose all the symmetry of that wall.
The 1249 is pretty tall and would block out part of the TV which is already much higher on the wall than I would've liked. I think my only option here is to move it out from the corner and angle as much as possible.
Not enough space to angle the sub so I just moved it straight south 8" from the back wall to give it some breathing room.
trust me, I get the symmetry thing, I did break the habit, I'm now asymmetric OT I just ordered the book. $40 to help optimize my investment
might be a bit extreme, how does it sound? subs do like some wall reinforcement but not right against it or directly in the corner. check the manual if you can. again, 12 to 16 inches from the wall for starters. did you notice one note stronger than others when it was directly in the corner? validate any new position with your ears first and ideally some measurement app if possible.
I haven't tried putting it between the speakers yet and I'm thinking I won't. Being in the middle of the traffic pattern is not going to work. It sounds a little better moving it out of the corner. Then again my old ears and not very discerning at this point due to decades of ear abuse...
