I'm considering replacing my LP copy with a Classic Records 150 gr. or 180 gr. Is there a difference and are either of these a good recording?

have to agree, i like my 180 over the 200.
200 is slightly off center and the set up is more for 180 than 200 anyway!
both sound very good but if 180 is cheaper then that is the one i would go for.

    Thinking about this:
a 150 grm pressing was issued but can't remember by who. it may have been classic as the OP states. Also remember a red vinyl pressing too!
just off to have a look..............

You may want to look for an orig. green label Capitol, these are Robert Ludwig mastered and are very, very good !

I have found that the green label Capitol is easy to find, but sometimes in bad shape. My beat up RL sounds great!

I have the Classic 200g. Sounds nice and big and powerful. Haven't heard the 180.
I agree about the Capitol green label.

I have the Classic re-issue BOG and it's numbered. It's still sealed. I was told that it was the 200gr, but it's numbered and is the 1997 issue. Is this the 180g or the 200g?

180 Is the numbered issue, mine is 0054.
The 200 is clearly sticker'd to that effect on the front of the plastic slip (also QUIEX SV-P)

That is the one I'm talking about 150 g. Is this a very good pressing?

Mine is a little crackly but nice.
Suggest the OP gets a 180 pressing and grabs a/the clean needledrop of the ludwig pressing, there has been one knocking about in hendrix circles for years so easy to grab.

There is not a significant difference between the RL and the Classic. Get the Classic the quiet surfaces make it superior. I have the 180 from 1997? and the later repressing on 200gm and again no difference. Just grab a copy

I own a lot of Jimi Hendrix on vinyl and for me BOG is my all time favorite. I used to see Buddy Miles playing around Fort Worth, TX in the mid to late 90s. I remember that it was always random places, like Guitar Center in Arlington or at a blues jam. The drummers for the house bands always cringed when he staggered through the door, because they knew that their gears was about to take a beating. As a drummer, it was awesome watching him pummel with such fantastic groove. He would rush a little when he sang, but who cares, it was Buddy.

At Acoustic Sounds the 150G. $35, 180G $75 there is no 180G or 200G. Could the site be wrong in the listing or people hear are wrong which is it. Should I go for the 150G which could be the 180G, LOL

I have a red vinyl copy which I remember the sticker saying something about the "vaults" came out in I believe 2008. It's not a bad pressing, but I'm thinking I can do better.

So, all the Capitol Green Label mastered by RL? What about the Red Label ones, any good?

Not sure if the Ludwig masterings continued onto the later red labels or not, I am sure someone here knows !

There are later green label ones (cat# SN-16319) that are not RL's, but mastered by Capitol.
The one I have actually has the original STAO catalog # scratched out in the dead wax with the new cat# next to it.
I have an original RL too. The original RL's do sound nice. I don't have the best equipment, but I can hear the difference between them.

Thanks, nice to know. I guess I need to make sure the seller has the RL in the deadwax.
