I think they used the wrong photo for the cover, Mitch is the central focus, although its a great photo of Jimi's neck. I imagine somebody young seeing this LP and saying Jimi Hendrix, is that him on the drums ?
Tech has advanced so much in the past ten years. Products, such as iZotope's RX, have made restoring/repairing audio easier. In RX, you can de-noise wind, which is definitely helpful for this release. RX 8 Overview | The industry standard for audio repair
IMWAN • [2020-11-20] The Jimi Hendrix Experience "Live In Maui" 2CD/1BD set (Experience Hendrix/Legacy)
If you mean the film, sort of (I suppose). If you mean the audio, then no. Rainbow Bridge (the original LP) actually didn't contain any audio from the two sets recorded on Maui. This will be comprised of the actual audio from the Maui '70 shows. Only one track from the gigs has been released officially on CD/LP up to now; "Hey Baby" on the Purple Box set.
I hope they found a way to use the original drums on every song. No Mitch overdubs. It looks wrong with the video. Also, if some are overdubbed, and some are not, the sound quality will vary wildly.
This was the closest, in proximity, I ever got to seeing Jimi. I lived about 6 miles from the HIC Arena in August of 1970. I was only 13 and had no way of going to the concert. It just kills me !
Really good news for us Jimi fans, it will be interesting sound quality wise to hear what they did to the audio. We will have a better idea before the release date when they put a video from the show on you-tube
If they can get the recording close to "Miami Pop Festival" I 'll be happy. Only concern I have is if Hendrix voice is low in the mix or not. Hopefully we'll know with a song/video to sample from prior to November.
I really hope they include the full audio kn the Bu Ray and not just the CDs. In act I would be happy with a Blu Ray onky release. Aka full show audio (2.0 and 5.1) on the Blu Ray as well as as much video as they have on the Blu Ray too..
Now I see the light: maximal publicity in September, in the shops for Christmas. Anyhow, I love to spend my $50 to see my 45-year-old dream come true!
It wasn't a particularly effective compilation. I was primarily interested in the release of the 1970 era single versions of Izabella and Stepping Stone, only to find out later that they were allegedly not the exact 1970 single mixes, but slightly remixed in some way.
And none of the bootlegs will sound as good as this official release, because none of them had access to the master tapes. They threw in the video as an extra enticement as well.
I don't care nearly as much about whether the video syncs with the audio perfectly in all aspects as I do about the audio itself. This is 90% about the audio for me. Video's a pleasant surprise. If it's watchable, I'll be amazed. I saw Rainbow Bridge just once, many, many years ago. I'm not an avid collector of Hendrix bootlegs.
