    Speaking of live shows ……………
Anyone aware of a merge of the Hollywood Bowl set having been done as yet?

Prime candidate for a merge between the old aud rec and the source put out by EH on the Ladyland set.

    How did it sound?

(I'm less-forgiving of the officially released source than some of us -- but, in fairness, part of my displeasure is probably a result of the context. I still can't accept the decision to include it in the EL 50th...)

I have never heard "Dear Mr. Fantasy" from the Winterland concert....and a search of the usual suspects reveals nowt. Could any kind Guy or Gal provide a link? I fear my education is incomplete:)

It's from February of '68, not the more well known October '68 run of shows. It's on the Dagger release of Paris/ San Francisco 1968.

Yeah, February 4th, 1968, Winterland, San Francisco, "Dear Mr. Fantasy" Part II, between 5:14 to 5:49 is a moment to that matches up with the top of Jimi's best live moments. Somehow Hendrix is able to weave high notes in with his whammy work into the low notes, with equal parts melody and psychedelia...but all controlled to the nth degree.

I was going to say it is on the official Hendrix YouTube channel. But, that is the version from Dallas a few months later.

I think that's correct. I recall having Completist Anxiety that I had missed out on the "bonus" item -- until a few months later when I figured out that I already had it on the Dagger release.

    RE: 02-03-1968, Winterland
I'm going recant my take on "Little Wing" from this show. Yes, it's very good, but while most Hendrix shows you can enjoy with headphones and speakers, both, this show leans way more to the headphones side of spectrum. It doesn't have anywhere close to the same effect through my speakers. Of course a lot of music is system dependent, so as they say, your mileage may vary.

Yep. I have the Winterland one and the seperate Dagger release.

That was packaged as part of the Amazon "exclusive" version.

It is still listed as part of the set in the description on the Amazon site.

Yeah, it won't be on Youtube, as it's an official release. hey are easy to buy from Dagger records and inexpensive for what you get.

Honestly the Dagger is better as it more complete and the sound is pretty much the same. You didn't miss much.

It was not an Amazon exclusive. I bought my vinyl box at a brick and Mortar Record store and it had the Winterland Feb CD included.

Perhaps it was the numbered Vinyl boxset versions only that had the Feb CD included? Or is Amazon advertising it is an exclusive to the CD boxset? I have never gotten the CD boxset so don't know about it.
