A new album by JJ Cale called Stay Around is due to be released at the end of April.

It’s a collection of unreleased songs that have been compiled by his widow and former manager.

Sounds like one to look forward to!

Most posthumous stuff I greet with a yawn, but I’ll bet this is going to be terrific.

I think JJ would have kept a lot in the can.

That first track sounds great to me but then I figured it would. Can't think of too much he did that I don't like.

I'll be picking this up, for sure. Thanks for the post.

A great loss when he passed. I have always loved his laid back groove and am really looking forward to hearing this new material. First track is pure JJ.

Just saw this was coming...can't wait! Listened to about 30 seconds of the first released song, pure magic! Will now wait for the entire album before I listen to anymore, sure hope it sees a vinyl release!

  16. So, is this a 2-LP set or a single LP with CD? I see it being advertised as both, sort of confusing.

American release is 2xLP + CD. Not sure if there is a different EU release.

I am not really in your region. But if you buy if for 22, I will give you the 6 bucks if you can get it to me.

I was lucky enough to see JJ perform live with his band a few times back in the day. Was shocked to see that it was his guitarist Mac Gayden playing all of the leads including that very distinctive wah wah on "Crazy Mama" which many wrongly believed was JJ's playing.

Mac was also in some very notable bands early in his career, like Area Code 615 and Barefoot Jerry. Mac went on to become a mega writer/producer.

Too bad, that was the initial price on amazon.com. I was at work and didn't get to order it at that price either. At the current price it automaticly slaps on a 25% tax, imported to Norway, so until further, I'll wait for a better offer.

Automatic buy. Never even thought about unreleased JJ but I bet he has a ton of songs in the vaults.
