Just the other day I played his concert with Getz et al. at Carnegie Hall. Just a wonderful voice and guitar sound. He managed to sound intimate and whisper quiet in his set, even at such a large venue.

I remember when I read a book on Caetano Veloso and the Tropicália movement, the reverence he had for "Chega de Saudade" and how it inspired him to write and record music led me to revisit music I originally thought was dull and old fashioned and discover the majestic and beauty in it.

A very complex personality. The creator of Bossa Nova was a dificult and very reclusive person.

I will miss the father of bossa nova. From all reports, his last years were difficult. His music, however, is transcendent!

I will do the same. The "white album" by Joao Gilberto is amazing. My favorite of any artists white album. I love everything about this mans music, writing, playing, singing and alluring understated style. He will be missed.
