Yes, "Live in Seattle" was recorded on September 30, 1965, and this new release on October 2, 1965, both at the Penthouse. John Coltrane – Live In Seattle (1994, CD)
There is also this unofficial CD made from a radio broadcast of the September 30, 1965 concert, which is supposed not to duplicate the official release John Coltrane – The Unissued Seattle Broadcast (2011, CD) https://img.discogs.com/0DXJ4JAWWCV...ogs-images/R-4685917-1496346067-6540.jpeg.jpg
what's with the constant high-pitched metallic scraping sound in the left channel? Sounds like a dental hygienist doing an ultrasonic teeth cleaning. it's unlistenable.
Om (and Meditations, most especially) are favorites, as is Live in Seattle. This new live Love Supremo will be a welcome addition to my Coltrane stack.
This was unexpected! I'll get it, but I will say Live In Seattle is not my favorite Trane jam. Hope the band stays more on track for the Supreme performance.
By the way, is there any pressing need to order this direct from the first linked source or would it not be unreasonable to expect this title to be produced in enough numbers so as to find it available from all of the usual suspects?
That's quite clearly someone's incoming text message alert signal making all of that noise on their cell phone (which they neglected to turn off before showtime.)
Sounds great to me. Lookin' forward to this. Now. Who's sitting on a trove of live tapes of Spiritual Unity era Albert Ayler Trio?
I pre-ordered mine from Amazon for $38.50. I am a Prime member so free shipping, but I believe they have free shipping on orders over $25 anyway. I also like the fact that I will get it at the lowest price if the cost changes .
Aw, screw waiting around. Just ordered this (along with Blue World and 1963, too... took advantage of that 25% off offer for those puppies) from that Center Stage link.
Wow! This is up on Amazon UK as well, just in case anyone hasn't been refreshing their search all day until it showed up: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09BD...abc_PC248FQFCWXVNRGM6PD3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I imagine the parts titled "Interlude" will be where the real difference lies. In any case, with Pharaoh Sanders in the band, it's bound to make for a very different experience. The Antibes recording is just the quartet, right ?
