Wow, what a pointless release. Who would want this? "giving these classic songs a new life for generations to come" or "until the next time we remaster them again"
Same here but the incentive seem to be the 124-page book, the hi-res files and the surround mixes (5.1 and Dolby Atmos). That said I'm more of an album fan myself, like many here I believe and I would have preferred that treatment on a specific album rather than on a (new !) Best-of. Ah well (well well)...
I must have missed the post where Carrera confirmed all those tracks... However, I’m going to go WAYYYY out on a limb and predict the obscure tracks “Watching The Wheels” and “Nobody Told Me” will make an appearance.
Wasn't one of the clues about this album that the title of it, or the description used a word or phrase that would appeal to younger consumers?
Preordered from amazon uk - expensive for a best of but i'm into the whole deluxe edition thing - seems like a bargain after paying £200 for Flaming Pie

Isn't that basically what they did with the mega-deluxe Imagine a little while ago? I'm not sure how many of John's other solo albums have enough of a reputation to warrant such treatment as standalone super deluxe releases. (The question isn't whether some fans want such releases, but whether the record companies think they'll sell enough copies to make the investment worthwhile.)
I was looking forward to a POB deluxe and yet another Lennon comp is a huge let down. These songs have been remixed and remastered in the past 10 years, so it’s hard to understand why this has been released. Likely to be on deep discount next year when they can’t sell them all. I will put the money towards the import hit for the 9LP box of Wildflowers. Hopefully the rumoured ATMP will be the must buy Beatles box this year.
Automatic translation: "giving these classic songs a new track sequence to make the same fans buy them again for the 3727221345th time".
Is it true the Imagine Ultimate Experience box set wasn't a good seller? So it looks like remixing the remaining Lennon solo albums will be skipped and just put out a(nother) compilation... but remixed. Well, better than nothing.
Indeed. Let's call it a deep cut. Sean Lennon seems to be behind that selection of tracks. He's the "mind behind" Mike was talking about below. For the standard CD/vinyl editions, one track, "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)" will be shorter on the ocean outro, glad I'm not a Lennon completist, it will be complete on the other editions. Regarding the contents, it could look like a mix of hits but having "Isolation" on it instead of other very well known tracks, for example "New York City", you double think this is not 'another hits compilation', but that seems to be the intention. This weird and vast selection of tracks, including live and also outtakes, only makes sense when you think on the mind behind this upcoming release.
The one track from Sometime In New York City is "Angela" ? Weird track listing for sure and no Watching The Wheels & Woman.....
Yeah I just noticed Every Man... is this like an Australian only thing or is it getting a worldwide release? Kinda like this one
Worldwide release. I posted an Amazon UK link but more to come. Announcement should be made soon. Some say this week.
My guesses are the 7 missing are not the master tracks, but alternates/posthumous releases: 1. Mother (studio outtake - Signature Box) 2. Come Together (live - One to One) 3. Angel Baby (Menlove Avenue) 4. Real Love (Imagine: John Lennon soundtrack) 5. Nobody Told Me (Milk & Honey) 6. Woman (Double Fantasy Stripped mix) 7. Watching the Wheels (acoustic - John Lennon Anthology) This is assuming there is nothing truly "previously unreleased" in this collection...Although it's possible there could be an exclusive track or two on it. We will see soon.
