Has anybody heard the Classic Records gold CD version of the subject title? I'd be interested in hearing your opinion of the sound quality. TIA!

Sounds wonderful - a great date.
Very natural, clear with a deep bass.
Look around, this has been discontinued. I found it new for $7.99 at Tower Outlet last year.

Haven't heard the Classic records gold CD version, but I have it on a Verve 2-CD set, "The Soul of Ben Webster" - it's one of 3 albums on the set. Obviously not a Ben Webster date, but Ben's presence is noteworthy. I only mention this version because it sounds OK, and includes some bonus tracks from the "Blues A Plenty" session - interestingly, when Mosaic put out the complete Verve Johnny Hodges small group late 50s sessions a couple of years ago (a box set on CD and vinyl), they omitted these bonus cuts - one of the few times that Mosaic has overlooked bonus material for one of their sets.

I have the Classic Records 45 of 'Blues A Plenty' and it sounds plenty nice... :)
