Happy now? Everyone is talking about 'Joker' How each movie star prepared to play the live-action Joker Two articles I thought were interesting.
I couldn’t give crap about this film. The trailers look hideous. Pedaling the same old junk; over & over again.
Just read that Joaquin Phoenix got some of his inspiration for his Joker's movements from Ray Bolger's 1957 performance of "Old Soft Shoe". Joaquin Phoenix's 'Joker' character was inspired by a 'Wizard of Oz' star
I couldn't have had a more opposite reaction. Both the teaser and the main trailer were two of the more strikingly original and interesting presentations I've seen in awhile. I don't often sit up and take notice but whoever cut those did a really good job in my estimation. The teaser back in the summer piqued my interest – immediately. Can't wait to see the film!
Same here. I'm curious what else you (audiomixer) think looks just like this that you consider the coming movie "the same old junk over & over again". I don't know whether the movie will live up to the hype, but the trailer certainly piqued my interest and it most certainly does NOT look like just another comic book/super hero film.
Funny, yes, but around here sometimes that's best for one's own sanity you get drivebys like whatshisname up there just dumpin' on things for their own amusement.
Is anyone hearing about extra police stationed around the theater when the movie opens? They're announcing it here.
I don't remember. It was local news. I would have to think it would be a theater or theaters in Philadelphia or Wilmington.
If you google it, you see random stories like this.. NYPD Ramps Up Security at Theaters Ahead of 'Joker' Premier I'm not sure there's actual concern for this. I'm seeing it at 6:30pm today. Can't wait.
Got a feeling I may have been beaten to the punch, but I seem to be able to read The Walking Dead comics, Joe Abercrombie's new 'medieval' novel, the new Steve Gorman Crowes biog, a history of St. Oswald in seventh century Britain after the Romans departed (on my lunch hour) and The Guardian newspaper, all within the last few days. Obviously, the history one is something I mention to people who think reading Chekov, Tolstoy or Joyce (who's she?) is something to be impressed by.
With all the hype around the supposed potential for violence, one wonders whether the media are trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy.
If the reviews are excellent then I'll go see it. I saw Colors and The Last Temptation of Christ in theaters - both which had added security,
You tell me what looks exciting & redeeming about this film that hasn’t been done several times before ad nauseam?
Well, when was the last time a comic book-related movie was based on the likes of The King of Comedy and Taxi Driver?
