Jonathan Wilson's new album, Dixie Blur to be released on March 6th 2020!

"I can’t wait to share this new album with all you guys. This is a very special collection of songs that I made in Nashville this summer with an absolutely astounding Nashville All-Star band featuring Patrick Sansone, Kenny Vaughn, Jon Radford, Drew Erickson, Russ Pahl, Jim Hoke, Leslie Stevens, Mark O’Connor, Dennis Crouch, and more….. We made it at Cowboy Jack Clement’s Sound Emporium A, tracked it live to 24-track, it was a glorious event..."

Ha, I like his stuff but hold to take his records all in at that length at such a similar pace.
    New album is good.

  15. As much as I liked a lot of it I really struggled with Rare Birds until I edited it down to 45 minutes and only played those tracks when I listened to it.
Holding off on listening to this until I get CD after its release on 27 March.

Thew first thing that jumps out is what a fantastic recording it sounds, even though the DR figure is low.

I'm finding the obviously Nashville inspired songs being the best, some of the slower tracks almost pass you by, but perhaps they infiltrate with repeated listen, 8/10 at the mo.

It’s a really lovely album. Recorded in a week unlike Rare Birds, which took a year. Still immaculately produced though.

Vinyl sounds great (I have the UK mint green release). Lacquers cut by Chris Bellman.

Could someone add a more detailed describtion of the sound of the vinyl edition ( and the pressing quality of same)? I appreciate any comments, but details would be nice.

Picked up a mint green copy yesterday at the local record store and I’m very impressed with the pressing quality of this. This is an extremely quiet pressing and the mastering is fantastic (C. Bellman). I don’t know exactly why, but when I heard the first tracks from this on YouTube I got the impression that this was a from the hip project from Wilson, but in no way is this the case. I loved Rare Birds but Dixie Blur may contain his finest and most moving set of songs yet. Beautiful songs, beautiful sound and beautiful playing. It’s still beyond me why this guy don’t have a larger following, especially within this forum!

Such a shame! I don’t know the DR rating of the vinyl edition, but it sounds fantastic.

I agree that the LP sounds fantastic. I'm enjoying this one a lot and for me its a return to form as I didn't care much for Rare Birds. Is it me or at times does it sound a bit like Roger Waters fronting Wilco? Anyway beautiful record, great songwriting and musicianship.
