I didn't notice PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN was a Disney film aimed at families, as opposed to an adult action film. I wouldn't have made my dire prediction, as Disney can sell stuff no one else can.

Haven't seen the movie; don't plan to. Read the comics; thought they were pretty good.
Here's a link to a site of comic book annotations; the ones for the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen are done by some folks with a broad knowledge of Victoriana and are astonishingly detailed. I hear they're going to be published in book form. Scroll down till you see the LXG links:

    Today Show - SPOILER ALERT

I thought the spot w/ Sean Connery on the Today Show last week was interesting but this exchange really was the standout:

    Oh and SPOILER ALERT!

(I'm going by memory so forgive me for any misquotes)

Matt Lauer: Are you committed to a sequel?

Sean Connery: Oh well I do die in the film...

Matt (shocked): Don't give it away!!

Sean: I do have an "escape clause"

Matt: An escape clause for what? Dying or doing a sequel?

    Sean: Both

I probably forgot a line or 2 but that's the gist of it.

That's 'cause he dies in the movie, but as it ends he "might" be being "brought back" by witch doctors.
