It is not digital pops, it is the sound of a vinyl crackling... It is intentional. I never actually read about it but I am pretty sure it is intentional and a "director's" choice on her part to give the song a cosy vintage feeling.

I love it. One of my favourite songs on the album.

For me, Walk Straight Down the Middle sounds like a bad Stevie Nicks lyric, stuff like “She thought she was gonna die....but she didn’t”, “they thought it was all over....but it wasn’t, it hadn’t started yet”. It’s a bit cliched/lazy and sounds generally a bit “plod rock”, like it could have been on a Mutt Lange produced record. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh but I always saw it as a bonus and best left off the TSW.

Mileage. I just love the sound of "Walk Straight Down The Middle". I don't really care about the lyrics.

I agree that the lyrics are poor, which is why I suspect it didn't make the cut, but the melody of that section is so uplifting I can't help but love it.

Regardless of it's actual meaning, the vocal on Delius is SO sexy and captivating!

Just listened to the remastered Sensual World LP. I ordered this one only after being impressed with several other of the remasters, because I figured the Hoffman/Gray mastering I already had would be tough to beat. I didn't compare them directly yet, but my initial impression is that it sounds pretty good, but probably isn't better than the Hoffman/Gray mastering. My sense (purely based on memory of the other pressing) is that the remaster is somewhat similar, but a bit more bass-y and trebly, which is good for some percussive bits, but leaves the reverb on Kate's vocals sounding a bit cold. As others have pointed out, this album is somewhat sonically challenged, though it is probably my favorite of Kate's albums overall.

It is sad that Kate Bush feels she has to make a rare (these days) public statement primarily to correct a misunderstanding over an interview done several years ago, when there is so much to say and discuss regarding her life's work. And her recent revisiting of it.

We found over 200 pages of stuff to discuss here without venturing into political debate. I hope I am not being melodramatic when I say I think it recalls John Lennon's interview regarding the popularity of the Beatles, albeit with only a portion of the uproar.

What are those topics it is best avoided raising to avoid argument again?

I never doubted for a moment what her political compass is and always thought that quote was deliberate taken out of context (by the usual offenders in british press) to drag her into the political discussion. For me she didnt need to send out this statement.

I for one am relieved that she felt strongly enough to make this statement, as I have personally found that what their actions and what they have stood for this decade is apalling. Hence, why KB probably felt she should speak out - didn't want to be associated with their policies. The film 'I, Daniel Blake' captures it well for anyone interested.

At the risk of a handslap from a Gort, I'll just add, "Hurrah, Kate!"

I'd always thought the original quote was taken out of context as well but won't deny I am happy she publicly clarified her stance and did so so emphatically.

It seems that some people are upset about some missing tracks, single vs album mixes, no live EP, etc.

Perhaps the series should have been called Kate Bush Remastered, The Hole Story... ;)

I took that original statement to be a comment on women in power, not politics, but the way it was framed to be political was disappointing.

She didn’t need to issue this but I’m glad she did. It just clarifies that the world has not gone completely insane despite evidence to the contrary.

Please, lets not let what has been a great thread descend into political sniping. Kate simply addressed a misconception about a previous statement and I am sure her intent was not to set off another round of political tit for tat bickering.

Now this has prompted me to remember this bit of old, unproved trivia:

In 1997 there was a short-lived rumour about David Byrne getting romantically involved with Kate. The rumour soon died down with no proof offered (as the Internet was only beginning to happen). Shortly afterwards, Byrne released his solo album 'Feelings' (my favourite from all his production, Talking Heads included, FWIW) which featured many collaborations, Devo and Morcheeba among them. Now, as I listened to this particular track with that rumour still fresh in my mind... check out the backing vox singing the song title throughout the song and particularly at the end. Hard to shake it's Kate, though I never saw it mentioned anywhere. What do you think?
