Always found it funny that the story in these songs is similar. The songs are on two different planets:

    Rupert Holmes

    Kate Bush

Interesting comparison. They both use the "disguise" of one partner to attract the other. However, in the "Pina Colada" song, they find out who the other is by sheer chance, while in "Babooshka" , the woman is clearly testing her husband.....

You mean there is no secret Rupert Holmes/Kate Bush duet??? :)

Omigod, that is too bizarre! The two videos just illustrate how the same subject matter can yield such extreme results! Even from the performance you can easily recognize who is the brave artist and who is the showbiz hack (and, I say this without a tinge of distaste for Rupert Holmes, who was at the top of his profession in those years)!

I always thought Holmes was a cleverer version of Manillow, and really dug his albums. But, seeing a guy stand up on stage flailing his arms and wearing that redonculous blue whatever-it-is, bears no resemblance to Kate in a slinky red dress romancing a bass viol, as she becomes horrified by the true state of the protagonists' relationship.
