I know, I was thinking "Am I the only one who cares about this?"

"Though Jagger and Richards have been writing and recording together for the past few years, Wood says they recently listened to 12 or so tracks and decided to keep working. “Mick and Keith wanted to make sure the songs were really good, so we’ve sort of taken a step back again, have a listen, put more into the pot,” says Wood."

Not sure if I was/am right about this, but I had a feeling Keith was cutting back for some years now. And now has stopped. From what Ronnie said, did he imply that bit about the turning point coming sooner and sooner meant he was cutting back before this? In any event the point is I am not surprised by this news.

I am sure Keith feels he's doing the right thing by himself, and I would not argue against that for a second. But still there's an end of an era feeling about this, me being a big Keith fan, that feels sort of melancholy to me. That's more about the passing of time than about his own drugging and drinking.

Fwiw I know some friends who for health reasons stopped drinking who more or less have "gone back to Nature" as referred to above. I guess that's better for them.

That was all hype. It was actually an umbrella injury from his drink.

He shouldn't do it if he's not completely sober though, and I see no indications of that.

Precisely. I should have added that he would have to be honest about sobriety, and I really don't see that day coming.

Good for Keith, but I'm wondering if it was a sobering visit to the doctor which prompted this decison. I wish him the best of health.

Maybe I'm being a throwback sentimental but some people don't need to go sober, for all substances, and if Keith isn't one of them then that will be the big shock for me.

Typical of many recovering substance abusers. If they stop one addiction, they move to another to compensate. It's their coping mechanism to use something to help ease whatever it is they are going through, the way their brain is wired.

It's easier to be honest than to be sober.
