Keith Richards is 75! How Did He Do It & Your Toasts Please.......

Happy Birthday Keef. Will see him and the Stones for the 1st time next year. One of my favorite pictures of him:

I think he looks great. Doesn't look a day over 175.

Snorting your dad’s ashes will do that. Please the alcohol keeps him well preserved. Don’t take him out too long though.

 

Happy birthday to a true legend. To say the Stones wouldn’t be the same without him is a massive understatement.

Personally I think he made to this age bracket due to a combination of luck and genetics.

 

Amazing how, in forty years, he's gone from being scary to being kinda ... loveable. ♡ Love ya Keith, anybody who feels otherwise has issues.

Why I like Keith:
1. demonstrates extreme loyalty to his friends
2. excellent work ethic. Despite his documented issues in the 70s, he never missed or caused cancellation of a gig until he started having medical issues, either the falling out of a tree incident or the falling off a ladder in his study incident, I forget which. Anyway, until then, he never missed a show.
3. he used to have some really good witticisms in interviews
4. a bold, decisive actor. I am really amazed that he essentially rescued Anita during the famous Morocco vacation, despite knowing that it could destroy the band. I would have loved to have been in the room when Keith and Brian met after returning from Morocco after Keith stole his girlfriend.

Also to his friend Bobby Keys a happy b day.

 

The way he treated his father showed me what a solid sober man he is deep down (no not the ashes). He basically patched up the relationship and showed the guy a great time and buried him quietly without the press.

 

why I like Keith, continued:
5. in a large number of candid pictures, especially in the 70s, even when not on stage he's carrying or playing an acoustic guitar. He really, really likes playing guitar.
6. he keeps it basic. He never got into the usual rock star hobbies like car racing or gardening or acting or chasing models. He goes with what he's good at.
7. he enthusiastically learned open tuning. His quote from the 1971 Robert Greenfield interview is that it was like learning how to play all over again. "It was fun," he said.
8. no one worked as hard as Keith did in the band, especially in the 60s. Listen to the demo for Dandelion. He's not phoning it in. he's INTO it!

 

On 6, Keef has a home book library to die for. To me that's the thing that makes him super cool.

 

The dj on KPIG just wished him, "Happy 75th birthday, Keith. That's 150 in rock n' roll years."

 

Thanks for that reminder. A true rock n roller if there ever was one.

 

Alcohol & smoking preserved him from the inside out.

 

Every time I get drunk and smoke another pack of cigs I wonder if I'll be as lucky as Keith...

...probably not.

 

Next thread : How did Ginger Baker make it to 79? He's done more crazy **** than Keef ever did. And smokes like a chimney.

 

Clean living, healthy eating, exercise, avoiding stress.

 

Better drugs than the mafia and never chasing a high.

 

I'm a believer in happiness helps longevity. All I ever read about rich people is how much of a miser they are (likely how they got rich) and the famous saying, money doesn't buy happiness.
