Eddie was one of the funniest characters on TV. Ken Osmond had the part down perfectly.

OK OK...no reason to get sore about it. One of his quotes that he used more than once.

    RIP Eddie...I mean Mr. Osmond.

You are correct. I had a friend that was identical to him. Would always great my mother "You look wonderful today Mrs. Bridges" and then when the adults left the room would make fun of someone. My parents caught on quick and called him Eddie.

Very sad news, I loved the show, one of my all time favorites. I have his autobiography and need to read it again. I remember him appearing in an episode of The Munsters. He wasn't Eddie but it was an Eddie character. He also appeared on Happy Days as an Eddie type teacher.

Imagine how boring that show would have been if Wally and the Beave didn't have shady friends. And Eddie was the king of them all. RIP.

I grew up in the 70s but we only had five channels so Beaver was in perpetual reruns... I grew up with the show just as much as any first gen fan... Eddie creeped me out, which is a testament to what a good actor Ken was... his smarminess has yet to be matched on screen!

This is so very sad. Ken did such a wonderful job with the role of Eddie and created an iconic and memorable character. It was a shame that his acting career suffered because of it.

RIP and thanks for the many memories. I will be breaking out my complete series LITB box set tonight.

Maybe not the best comment in an RIP thread, but know that Harry Shearer played a version of Eddie Haskell in the pilot. Shearer and his folks didn't want Harry tied up in a series. An argument could be made that Shearer had more experience than anyone onscreen as Shearer had performed on radio(Jack Benny),animation(Warner Bros.,thanks to Mel Blanc) and a couple of films before this pilot.

I'll have to check that out, I haven't seen the pilot in ages. I believe it is on the first season DVD set.

Very sad news. They say Ken was the best actor on the show because he had to fake being Eddie Haskell. He wasn't really like that. RIP, Ken.

Not to detour this homage to Ken Osmond, but last night I watched the two episodes I mentioned in an earlier post.

Yes, it was comfort food, but genuinely still extremely entertaining.

Season 1, Episode 22 The Perfect Father was great, especially the notes to fathering that I’m sure went over my head at the time.

Have to go back and watch more of that season, The June Cleaver character was more acidic than I remember, and not just with the mayo.

I’ve never been more attracted to her!

    RIP, Mr. Osmond.

Like others have posted in the thread, grew up watching Leave it to Beaver as a kid (for me it was reruns in the '80s). Purchased the Complete Series DVD set several years ago, and found that I still really dig the show even as an adult. I'd have to say the Eddie character was my 2nd favorite (behind only Larry). He was definitely what you would call a scene stealer.

Anyway, rest in peace to a TV legend....and apparently a good guy in real life as well.

LOL! Gotta give the producers credit for allowing that low-level, sexual innuendo into the show.
